RIP: Broadcast’s Trish Keenan

It’s a sad day for music. Trish Keenan, of the electronic pop duo Broadcast, has died from complications from pneumonia after she contracted H1N1 (yeah, swine flu) while on tour. Keenan’s voice was incredibly special and if you’ve never heard her sing — or listened to Broadcast before — this is a rather tragic excuse to start. Sadness. Amy Winehouse Is Back — Sort Of


About four years ago, I was lucky enough to see Amy Winehouse perform at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom shortly after the release of her album Back To Black in the U.S. She was amazing. Her singing was top notch, her stage presence was utterly transfixing, and she was wild in a way where you knew if she kept it just reined in enough, she would go on to have a long and illustrious career. Well, we know what’s happened since. Amy is back to performing again, but video from a recent show in Brazil confirms to me that she’s still go a long way to go before she’s back on the right path.
