A new video arrives from Bat for Lashes: “Daniel.” Directed by Johan Renck, who’s directed videos for Madonna and Kylie Minogue, it’s sort of in the same surreal vein as “What’s a Girl to Do?” A little bit Stevie Nicks, a little bit Bjork, the melancholy music vid stars Natasha Khan in tear-streaked makeup getting molested by a pack of black-clad freaks who look like they just escaped from an insane asylum in which everyone is forced to wear Gareth Pugh. It’s a pretty, sad love song — although why it ends with a Karate Kid reunion, I cannot fathom. The track is the first cut released from the upcoming Bat album, Two Suns. Do you love it or hate it? Shout out in the comments. Keep reading »
The old, blond hair whipping Britney is back and she wants you to find some chick named Amy. Not sure why, she hasn’t explained. Anyhoo, in the video for the song, Britney is totes having a raging, sexual party with some girlfriends, and they dance together, and everyone looks HOT. Then, all of the sudden, things get kind of misty and Britney’s hair is shorter and she’s rockin’ some soccer mom digs, and is carrying a pie and there are some kids and OMG, what do you think it means? Is Brit saying that all the boys and all of the girls who are begging to “if you seek Amy” don’t know the real her? That’s deep yo. Also, pie sounds yummy. Keep reading »
The movie version of the infamous documentary “Grey Gardens” airs on HBO on April 18 — so soon! — and we finally have two trailers to tease you. When we initially heard about the movie, starring Drew Barrymore as Little Edie and Jessica Lange as Big Edie, we were a little worried: Would they do justice to the documentary, which has inspired everyone from Marc Jacobs to Rufus Wainwright? Amelia was especially concerned about Barrymore’s abilities.
I, for one, will be trekking to a friend who has HBO’s apartment next month. The movie goes back 40 years before the documentary was filmed, delving into why the mother and daughter withdrew from society. And, Drew’s accent doesn’t sound half bad! After the jump, the second trailer, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie, and a clip from the original documentary for you to compare. Keep reading »
Yesterday afternoon I happened to switch on “The Bonnie Hunt Show,” a program I don’t normally watch (honestly!), just as Bonnie was introducing “The Bachelor”‘s Jason Mesnick and his Bachelorette, Molly Malaney. Last week I was on vacation in Central America, but by some grace of God, my hotel had satellite cable and I was able to catch the finale and both “After The Final Rose” shows (much to my boyfriend’s chagrin). I also might have flipped through the People that featured Jason on the cover while I waited to board my flight back to the States, so I was pretty up on what was going on in “Bachelor”-land despite missing some of the TV interviews last week. Still, there were some juicy revelations in this two part Bonnie Hunt interview — which clocks in at a whopping 17 minutes, 6 seconds, so grab some popcorn and get comfy. Pay particular attention to the little nugget of info shared at the tail-end of part two (clip after the jump, at around 8:50 or so), which sheds some new light on all the drama. Keep reading »
Last night on “Secret Diary Of A Call Girl,” Belle gave up the world’s oldest profession. Why would she quit her lucrative career so willingly? Was it the sex party with Bambi that went violently awry? Is she just sick of the biz and her madame? Is she afraid her family is close to finding out her secret now that her politician ex-client has been busted in the newspaper? Nope, none of that stopped her. It was a M-A-N! The high class hooker threw away her career and took a typical, entry-level office job with a jerk boss just to show her ex-boyfriend she still loved him. Of all the things we’ve seen this whore do to please a guy, this takes the cake!
But we’ve all done crazy/dumb/desperate things to try to win a boyfriend back, haven’t we? I may or may not have once drunkenly dedicated my karaoke version of “I Touch Myself” to a dude. What’s the most ridiculously extreme thing you’ve ever done to try to get a guy back? Or what has a dude done to win YOUR heart after having lost it? Fill us Frisky gals in in the comments! Our beloved Rachel Maddow was on “The View” yesterday morning, dishing the news with the gals, and managed to not give Elisabeth Hasselbeck any dirty looks. Our fave part of the interview is when she talks about how meeting her partner, Susan, was a lot like “Desperate Housewives.” Clip above! Keep reading »
