Anna Wintour Responds To Being Called A “Cold Bitch”

“60 Minutes” devoted a 13-minute segment to profiling Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, this weekend. Journalist Morley Safer described Wintour as “a name that strikes terror in some, loathing in others, and transforms some into obsequious toadies.” Not that his observation is incorrect, but, geez, what a way to introduce someone.

It didn’t stop there. If the “60 Minutes” profile didn’t have you squealing at the high-profile cameos (Karl Lagerfeld! Andre Leon Talley!), maybe you’re a bigger ice queen than this supposed queen of the ice queens herself. Clip after the jump … Keep reading »

Make A Note Of It: The Post-It Is Now For Lovers

The Post-It note has a bad rap. After Berger the narcissistic novelist dumped Carrie Bradshaw via Post-It on “Sex In the City,” the sticky yellow paper has been seen as a wussy way to get served. Of all the horrible ways a gal can get dumped, this message was by far the worst! But last night on the “Grey’s Anatomy” season finale, McDreamy and Meredith vindicated the little square. When they ran out of time to get married for real, the two exchanged memos, er, vows, and sealed it with their signatures on a Post-It note. We hope the marriage sticks too! Keep reading »

Comedy Central Is Going To Educate Your Kids About Sex

Comedy Central, the network which, thanks to “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report,” has hijacked the news and made it relevant, entertaining, and funny, has greenlighted a TV version of the cult online series “Midwest Teen Sex Show.” Despite its title, the show is hardly hardcore and offers valuable sex education information for teens and young adults via funny sketches about birth control, oral sex, porn, and STDs. It may seem odd that a comedy network is taking up the task of educating teens about sex, but many states do not offer comprehensive sex education. The network has been successful with bringing the news to teens and young adults, so I don’t have a doubt that their joint effort with the “Midwest Teen Sex Show” will rock, too. Check out an online episode! [EW.com] Keep reading »

Quickies!: The Feds Try To Take A Tot’s Illicit Drugs

  • The Food and Drug Administration is demanding Cheerios change its advertising that says the cereal will reduce cholesterol by 4 percent or risk being removed from market shelves. [Dumb As A Blog] — Way to get in bed with the drug industry, FDA!
  • Tahlia Brookins, 18, from the most recent cycle of “America’s Next Top Model” is pregnant. “I was told multiple times over and over that I couldn’t get pregnant … My initial reaction to my pregnancy was shock,” she said. [PopEater] — Good thing she was eliminated.
  • Judge Wade McCree in Detroit has a rather novel idea for sentencing fathers who don’t pay their child support. He makes them watch “Maury Povich” at least once a month instead of going to jail. “Some of these men in my court watch the show and see how ridiculous some of the deadbeats look, and then they realize it’s them,” he explained. Behind The Scenes At Vogue With Anna Wintour

We normally don’t have plans on Sunday night, but this week, we’re booked. At long last, the Anna Wintour “60 Minutes” segment will air on CBS at 7 p.m. ET. Recently, Anna has been opening herself up to the public much more than usual. Not only is “The September Issue” documentary being released this September, but she also spoke in New York earlier this week. I attended her Q&A on Tuesday, and most of the discussion focused on the business of fashion and publishing (though she did divulge that she “hasn’t been able to look at brown the same way” since wearing that color school uniform growing up). We’re hoping the “60 Minutes” segment will let us into her life a little more, and we know we’ll get to hear her talk about her ever-present sunglasses: “They are seriously useful. I can sit in a show and if I am bored out of my mind, nobody will notice… At this point, they have become, really, armor.” [CBS News] Keep reading »

    What’s Your Type?

Are you a sex machine? A bag lady? A perpetual second-place finalist? According to a new book called Ms. Typed, you just might be. Author Dr. Michelle Callahan was on the “Today Show” yesterday morning promoting the book, which offers advice based women’s dating personalities. In this clip, she explains how you can identify your type and what you can do to overcome some of your destructive dating habits. I wonder if there’s a type called “Doesn’t really want to watch televised sports” because, honestly, that’s, like, a recurring issue in ever relationship I’ve ever had.
