In what is quickly becoming the YouTube moment of last night’s Miss USA Pageant, Miss California answered a question from guest judge Perez Hilton about the legalization of same sex marriage. Asked whether every state should follow suit since Vermont became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage earlier this month, Miss California replied that she thinks it’s “great” that Americans can choose between same sex marriage or “opposite marriage,” but that in her country, she believes marriage should be between a man and woman. Isn’t California still part of America? On his blog, Perez called Miss California’s response the “worst answer in pageant history.” While I agree it was pretty bad, who can forget Miss South Carolina’s disastrous answer in the Miss Teen USA Pageant a couple years ago? Relive that moment, after the jump. Keep reading »

If the best kind of friends are the ones who know how to laugh at themselves, Lindsay Lohan is totes my new BFF. Sure, the girl might be nutso, especially after her split from Samantha Ronson, but I’ll take a dose of the crazy if it makes me snarf my Diet Coke with glee. Keep reading »
I’ve always thought the ads for cotton were nicely done, but this new one blows away all past commercials for the fabric of our lives. In it, Zooey Deschanel prances through her day, performing, writing a song, checking out a flea market, browsing through records, and trying on various adorable outfits made of cotton.
When other starlets appear in commercials or put their names on products, we think of them as sellouts, i.e., Lindsay and her line of hosiery. Zooey, on the other hand, has managed to use her image to make money without damaging her reputation. In fact, we love her even more for it! And cotton isn’t the only thing she’s selling. Zooey recently launched a mini-line of sunglasses with Oliver Peoples. Other celebrities should follow her classy example. [TheFabricOfOurLives.com, where you can download Zooey's cotton song] Keep reading »
Here’s Edie Beale in the original “Grey Gardens,” describing her “best costume for the day,” an insane combo of pantyhose and safety pins. Best costume, indeed.

After the jump, the essentials of how to get Edie’s pantyhose-over-pants-under-skirt look. Note: You must pair with major attitude. Keep reading »
Keira Knightley seems to make period film after period film, and “The Edge of Love” doesn’t break the trend. In it, she and Sienna Miller play two women loved by the famous poet Dylan Thomas. The movie is out in very limited release in the U.S., but we think it looks worth Netflixing for a few reasons: 1) Lindsay Lohan was originally cast in the role Sienna plays, and we’d like to imagine how the train-wreck would have played it. 2) A first, we didn’t even recognize Sienna Miller. She had to put on a little weight for the role, and she looks lovelier than ever. 3) Matthew Rhys, aka Kevin Walker on “Brothers & Sisters,” plays Dylan Thomas. 4) Cillian Murphy and his baby blues.
