Zergnet: Simply Irresistible

Chris Brown has released his first single since assaulting Rihanna in February. “I Can Transform Ya” features Lil Wayne and Swizz Beats, who produced the track. You can hear it in the video above, but skip to 2:17 if you don’t want to hear Chris try to figure out how to work his computer. “I Can Transform Ya” sounds like the man’s version of Beyonce‘s “Upgrade U” on B’Day. Even though his version is rather late — “Upgrade U” was released in 2006 — I don’t think this should have been his first release after the assault. Each time the hook plays, I think about how he transformed Rihanna’s face. Let us know what you think about the single in the comments. Keep reading »
It’s new release Tuesday, so it’s time to take the latest tunes for a spin. This week, Mariah Carey continues to emancipate Mimi, Karen O knows where the wild things are, the Avett Brothers steal our hearts, Paramore makes us yawn, and Dizzee Rascal gets us dancing real funky at our desks. So, let’s get into the groove, after the jump.
Tufts University just passed a new rule I wish my alma mater had passed when I was still a student: no sex in the dorms when a roommate is present. Anticipating what the students call “sexile” — or exiling your roommate when you want to get busy — the college also made a rule that sexual activity can not interfere with a roommate’s privacy, study habits or sleep. Wait, isn’t having your privacy, study habits and sleep interfered with sort of a rite of passage in college? Anyway, just how they plan to enforce these rules is anyone’s guess. Clip above. Sorry I’m a day late on this—I rely way too heavily on my DVR. On Sunday night, “America’s Best Dance Crew” crowned a winner. For the first time in four seasons, the winning crew—We Are Heroes—is totally female. The group was founded by Hiroka “Hero” Mcrae, who moved from Japan to Los Angeles and decided to put together a crew of female dancers, even though she barely spoke English. She brought together gals who had everything from hip hop to ballroom dance experience, and somehow taught them all to pop like champions. Before appearing on “ABDC,” We Are Heroes performed with Kanye West, Ciara and (random!) Earth, Wind & Fire. The ladies aren’t sure what they’re going to do with the $100,000 prize money, but they do know what’s happening with their trophy—they are sending it to Hiroka’s grandmother, who is sick in Japan. Just when “Circus” and “Womanizer” lost all their appeal, Britney Spears debuted a brand-new single this morning on the Elvis Duran Show on Z100 at 7 a.m. Because that’s just the time we all want to hear dance music? Anyway, this song is called “3″ and it’s off her greatest hits compilation, “The Singles Collection,” which will be in stores in November. Enjoy, and start speculating what it’s about.

Paging all Madonnaphiles! The Daily Beast has gone through the trouble of rounding up the “9 Sexiest Madonna Videos” of all time. Some of their picks are spot-on — “Like a Virgin,” “Justify My Love,” “Like a Prayer.” But other choices are downright weird — “Ray of Light” never struck me as particularly sexy. The most notably absent sexy Madonna video? “Human Nature.” You’d think being chained to a chair, spanking a dog, and wearing a latex bikini would count for something in a woman’s career.
