Album Drop: This Week’s New Releases, From Julian Casablancas To Weezer

It’s new release Tuesday, so it’s time to take the latest tunes for a spin! This week it’s all about The Strokes main man, Julian Casablancas, going solo and putting out one of the superflyest vigilante records ever. But he’s not the only hotness on this phat Tuesday. Carrie Underwood is weak for bad boys, Weezer’s got mad raditude, Say Anything keeps talkin’ the talk, and Schwayze is ready to throw a beat down on the dance floor. So, let’s get into the groove, after the jump!

The Wait Is (Almost) Ova For Rihanna’s New Album!

Rihanna‘s Rated R album hits stores in 20 days (yes, I’m counting), and a video for the new song “Wait Your Turn” just came out! I feel like I might be getting a little old to be so excited about something like this, but I can’t help it — it’s been too long since RiRi came out with new material! And this song is good. The Wolves Of “New Moon” Get Us Howling

Have you seen this “New Moon” promo of Kristen Stewart’s foreplay with Alex Meraz of Bella’s throwdown with the werewolf pack, Taylor Lautner‘s hot, bare-chested brothers? They must spend a lot replacing their T-shirts every time they change form. One matinee ticket, please. [I am unashamed to admit that I've already bought my ticket for opening night. -- Editor] [You Tube via EW]

You Wish Yo Kitteh Ate With Chopsticks

OK, the cat doesn’t hold the chopsticks, the owner does, but still! This is, like, the cutest thing I’ve seen since the last time I saw a cute thing on the internet. I like the crazy hair growing out its ears, its eager eating method, and its tiny little begging paws. Apparently, this is some sort of kitty training technique. Watch the cats bang out a spooky tune here! OK, I just went into cute overload. [URL] Keep reading »

Woman Calls 911 To Report A Drunk Driver—Herself

This video is kind of amazing. Listen to the 911 call from Mary Strey, a 49-year-old woman in Missouri, who called to report a drunk driver on the road. “Are you behind them?” asks the operator. “No, I am them,” replied Mary. “Well, do you want to stop driving before you get in an accident?” asked the operator. Luckily, she does. Oh, but that’s not all. Watch long enough to hear from a Michigan police officer who called 911 to report that he and a few buddies had stolen some pot they confiscated from a criminal. “We made brownies and I think we’re dead. I really do,” he said. After last week’s 911 call from a woman who just wanted to ask a cop out on a date, we’re starting to think someone should build an entire reality show around hilariously bulls**t 911 calls. Remote Control: What You’ll Want To Watch The Week Of November 2nd 2009

As the weather outside starts to get frightful, evenings parked in front of the TV are sounding more and more appealing. What will I be watching this week? The World freaking Series! But do not fear, even if you aren’t into baseball, there’s lots of exciting stuff happening this week: Samantha Ronson‘s cameo on “90210″; the premiere of “V,” which is being hailed as the new “Lost”; a new episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County“; and, sigh, the season finale of “Mad Men.” Keep reading »

Michelle Williams Continues Her Depressing-But-Good Movie Streak

Since hitting the big time with her “Dawson’s Creek” character Jen Lindley, Michelle Williams has gone on to make mostly independent films. Besides “Brokeback Mountain,” a lot of her movies haven’t landed in theaters — at least not in wide release — and I’ve Netflixed a few of them recently. Right now, I’m halfway through “Wendy and Lucy,” about a young woman who lives out of her car with her dog, and I have to watch it in parts so I don’t get too down. It’s great, but depressing as hell. I think I might have the same reaction to her and Gael Garcia Bernal’s upcoming film, “Mammoth,” which comes to theaters Nov. 20. The movie tells the story of a young family that seems to have it all, until a series of events change their lives. Do you like movies that show the sad side of life? Or do you stick to comedies and lighter films? Keep reading »

If you’re a fan of ’80s-inspired electro-pop à la Calvin Harris, take a listen … there might be some new artists and tracks you’ll dig. [YouTube] Keep reading »

Rihanna To Tell Her Side Of The Chris Brown Assault Story

On Thursday’s “Good Morning America” at 7 a.m., Rihanna will publicly break her silence and tell what went down in Chris Brown‘s Lamborghini the night he assaulted her. She’ll follow up that appearance with an interview on “20/20″ on Friday at 10 p.m. [Celeb Wohoo]

I wouldn’t get too excited about this interview because Rihanna probably won’t reveal much — she’s had nine months to perfect the PR coaching she was no doubt given. But, we’ll be watching anyway, to find out whether this was an isolated incident or if there was a pattern of physical or emotional abuse before the assault. Keep reading »

Jodie Sweetin Talks Drug Use And Recovery On “Today”

unSweetined, Jodie Sweetin‘s book about her drug addiction and recovery, officially hits bookstores tomorrow, and the former “Full House” star spoke to Matt Lauer on “Today” this morning. As we know from reading an excerpt from the book, Jodie was still using when she began touring the country, warning college students about the dangers of using drugs. The day before she caught a flight to speak to students at Marquette University, she had partied for hours, drinking alcohol and using ecstasy and cocaine. She even bought some coke, which she hid in her makeup compact, on the flight. Keep reading »
