Lady Gaga’s Latest Madonna Move: Releasing A Sexy Coffee Table Book

Lady Gaga maintains that “Born This Way,” complete with the high blonde ponytail styling, was not a rip-off of Madonna’s “Express Yourself.” But now it looks like Gaga is taking another page from Madge’s fame playbook. Gaga is releasing her own photo book, which will be called Lady Gaga, and will contain 350 color and black-and-white photos of her, snapped by Terry Richardson. Richardson apparently followed her for 10 months while she was on tour and recording her new album to create these images. [Huffington Post]

But this book of course, reminds me a whole lot of Madonna’s coffee table book for perverts, Sex. Keep reading »

“Sex And The City” Gets The Taiwanese Animation Treatment

So, the Next Media Animation company in Taiwan is known for making low budget, quick-turnaround animations of current events for Taiwanese news shows. They just put together a new video about the planned “Sex and the City” prequel, which is supposedly going to star Blake Lively, Selena Gomez, Emma Roberts and Elizabeth Olsen. Out with the old walker-using Samantha, and in with the new, younger, self-involved versions of themselves! [YouTube] Keep reading »

Watch MTV Explain The Internet In 1995

There may be nothing quite as wonderful as listening to Kurt Loder reporting about the burgeoning cyber revolution in 1995. Loder, who remains MTV’s lone staunch cynical dad figure, discusses in-depth the “world wide computer network” and its many “special interest truck stops” called websites. Enjoy taking a peak at awesomely antiquated Geocities sites and watching pre-YouTube Foo Fighters videos. As Coolio helpfully explains, “If it ain’t on the information superhighway baby, where is it?” [YouTube] Keep reading »

Vanessa Carlton On Coming Out As Bisexual To Her Mom

Yay, Vanessa Carlton has a new album out! She sat down with Chelsea Handler to gab about the new CD and of course Chels gets right down to brass tacks: “So you recently came out as a bisexual?” Carlton performed at a gay rights event and told the audience, in an offhand way, that she’s had relationships with both men and women. This came as news to her family! She said her mom called her on the phone upset because “she’s concerned about being a grandma.” Keep reading »

Doctor Calls Mommyrexia An “Upper East Side, White Girl, Obnoxious Problem”

I was totally digging this doctor on “The Today Show” who talked — okay, ranted — to Ann Curry about the constant pressure on women to be skinny, including during pregnancy. “Mommyrexia” is when pregnant women cut back on eating or add excessive exercise to their regimen because they’re worried about gaining quote-on-quote “too much weight” when there’s a bun in the oven. Clearly this eating disorder is scary and sad for both biological and cultural reasons. And you don’t usually get such sharp, feminist cultural commentary on “Today.”

But then Dr. Nancy Snyderman told us what she really thinks: “I think this is an Upper East Side, white girl, obnoxious problem. It’s irritating to me! We want perfect babies, perfect bodies, perfect lives. I just find the whole thing vulgar.” Ooof. Good job making women with eating disorders feel even more like the problem is them being selfish, not our culture. I am sure that will be really helpful, Dr. Snyderman. [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Morning Quickies: Tim Gunn Thinks Hillary Clinton Is “Confused About Her Gender”

  • Tim Gunn thinks Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is “confused about her gender.” The claws came out when Gunn went on “Lopez Tonight” and dissed Clinton’s “big, baggy menswear tailored pantsuits. No, I’m really serious. [They're] unflattering.” Wow. Inappropriate. She’s pushing 70 and works in government — what exactly do you want from her? [Celebitchy]
  • Lady Gaga is co-hosting “The View” on August 1. Consider us there. [Gossip Cop]
  • A heavily pregnant Jessica Alba and sex guru Sue Johanson shared “The Tonight Show” couch and Alba took the opportunity to ask about pregnancy sex. “As someone who’s in the later stage of pregnancy, is there any way to harm the baby during intercourse?” She asked. “That baby is in there and that baby ain’t going nowhere until it’s ready,” Johanson said. “That uterus wall is just like that.” Good to know. [Celebitchy]
