Behind The Scenes With The Behind The Scenes World Of Cat Videos

Did you think adorable kitten videos just happened out of thin air? Not so–the folks at Kittywood Studios toil away to make the fluffy, purring, cute magic. Why? Because “Cat videos not only change the way that we look at cats, and the way that we use our computers, and the way we look at cats. But the way we use our computers to look at cats. It’s purrrfect.” [YouTube] Keep reading »

“Chelsea Settles”: MTV Hits A Trifecta With New Reality TV Show

MTV’s new reality show, “Chelsea Settles,” is all about a girl who moves from a small town to chase her dreams of a career in fashion. So far, so much like “The Hills,” right? But, TWIST! Chelsea also happens to technically be “morbidly obese,” weighing in at an unhealthy 324 pounds (think “Celebrity Fit Club” or “Biggest Loser”), and comes up against a lot of not-so-kind criticism in the industry. Add to that a quirky, extroverted roommate (think “Real World”-style dramz) and you’ve potentially got the makings of a hit show. Keep reading »

Lady Gaga’s Video For “Yoü and I” Is Intentionally As Confusing As Love

Yesterday, Lady Gaga‘s video for “Yoü and I” was supposed to premiere on MTV at exactly 7:49p.m. However, after it leaked earlier in the week, Gaga jumped the gun on unveiling the video, which features her as mermaid Yuyi and as dude Jo Calderone, as well as rocking her mother’s actual wedding dress. To make it up to MTV, Gaga still sat down with Sway at the anointed time to talk about the video. Because the song has that umlaut in the name, I had wondered if it was a reference to Lüc Carl. And that sure appears to be the case, though perhaps they are broken up after all? “I wrote the song about this guy that I used to date … Sometimes in love, you can’t make it work,” said Gaga. “No matter what you do, there’s this giant boundary between you and someone else. So that’s what it’s about, perceiving in your imagination that there’s something magical inside of you that you can make it work.” Whoa. That’s kinda very true. Keep reading »

New Thing I’m Terrified Of: The Capybara

What I love most about being a blogger is discovering new, scary things that keep me awake at night. The latest find that has me tossing and turning is the capybara, which is basically a 100-pound rat/pig hybrid. Cute! For those of you who live in California, you’ll be pleased to know that there was a homeless capybara found swimming in a sewage pond near the Salinas River. I hear that some people keep these rodents as pets, as they are known to be playful, loyal, and affectionate. They are also known to devour one another with their sharp teeth for no reason. Fun stuff! [Discovery] Keep reading »

Russian Unicorn: Bad Lip-Reading Michael Bublé

Lip-dubbing — videos in which people mouth the words to songs — is so last year. I’m all about Bad Lip-Reading! The jokesters behind this trend dub their own lyrics — based on what it looks like the artist is singing by (badly) reading their lips — over popular music videos. Check out their bad lip-reading take on Michael Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet,” which they call “Russian Unicorn.” So much better than the original, I gotta say. [YouTube] Keep reading »

“Quirky Girl”: The Other Side Of The Manic Pixie Dream Girl

The Manic Pixie Dream girl — every woman kinda sorta wishes she could be her, every guy kinda sort wants to bang her. Right? If you’ve got a festering love/hate relationship with Zooey Deschanel’s character in “(500) Days Of Summer” — and other relentlessly quirky girls like her — then you’ll appreciate this Funny Or Die spoof featuring Teresa Palmer and the drool-worthy Aaron Paul. Because sometimes quirky is just crazy. [Funny Or Die] Keep reading »
