After the amazing brouhaha between Kelly and Bethenny on last week’s episode of “The Real Housewives of New York,” this week’s episode was a downright snooze fest. Watching rich, middle-aged white people play tennis is about as exciting as watching the paint dry in Jill’s new Liberace-inspired apartment, and with Ramona’s new “cool as a cucumber” M.O. when it comes to Simon, we didn’t even have the pleasure of seeing her get her feathers all ruffled when he showed up as her surprise opponent. At least we can always count on the LuAnne to say something utterly ridiculous. This time, her particularly doltish remark of the episode came when the C(o)untess was visiting a group of preteen girls to talk about the importance of self-esteem. When one pleasantly plump girl said she’d like to be a model one day, LuAnne asked her to stand up and without missing a beat, said, “Well, you have a beautiful face, and you know what? Losing weight is easy.” The C(o)untess: writing the book on etiquette one social gaffe at a time!
Anyhoo, check out this hilarious “Ode To The Real Housewives Of NYC” clip above. Let’s hope next week the ladies (including Simon!) are back to their normal insanity. Keep reading »
Just when I had convinced myself that I actually enjoyed the first season of MTV’s “The City,” Lauren, Heidi, Spencer, Audrina, and the rest of “The Hills” crew are back, like the back-stabbing best friends I never had. The season premiere featured a tearful Heidi and Lauren reunion, and Spencer beating up a kid who dared to tell Heidi he saw Spencer hitting on a female bartender. And what’s this I see on the season teaser…? Keep reading »
Oh damn, Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin’s ex and baby daddy, is on The Tyra Show right now and he and his family are spillin’ the beans! TyTy, of course, wants to assure everyone that this is a legitimate interview — that Levi and his family are not being paid to appear. Duh, you know they picked Tyra to talk to over Oprah or Barbara Walters because Levi’s sister is probably a big fan. Above, Levi says he’s pretty sure that Sarah Palin knew he and Bristol were gettin’ it on, then assures Tyra that he and Bristol were having safe sex. Well, most of the time. Is it weird that I am oddly attracted to the cute dummy? Another clip, after the jump… Keep reading »
Love your glasses! But seriously, you need to gain some weight back. I’m all for gettin’ heart healthy, cutting back on the trans-fats and the beer intake, but you’ve taken it too far. How do I know? Because with all the poundage, you’ve lost your ability to be funny. Your “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig this weekend was terrible and we can only blame the writers so much. Your delivery was awful! I mean, who’s ever heard of a funny guy who isn’t funny? I’m not sure why you lost your giggle-inducing talent along with the weight, but if you want to save your career, you’ll start chowing down on the McGangBangs FAST. Also, be careful with the roles you choose. Your cameo in “Superbad” was genius — your starring role in the upcoming “Observe and Report” is cause for concern. Not everyone’s terrible choices go the way of Jimmy Fallon, who somehow managed to score a late-night hosting gig despite “Taxi” and “Fever Pitch.” Oh and seriously, even if you hadn’t sucked on “SNL” this weekend, I still would be suggesting you trim back on the trimming back — you were cuter with a lil’ meat on your bones.
P.S. A clip of your “SNL” monologue is after the jump, for those who were lucky enough to miss it the first time. Keep reading »

“The Virgin Daughters” is a documentary directed by Jane Treays (which aired in the U.K. last year) that follows a group of fathers and daughters as they prepare to attend a Purity Ball in Colorado Springs. I’m not sure if or when it will air in the U.S., but you can watch clips online and feel the creepiness. Apparently, one in six girls in the U.S. makes a pledge to her father to remain a virgin until marriage. In the documentary, Treays interviews a family with five daughters, all of whom have or will make a purity pledge to their dad, who says that strong male figures are at the core of this tradition. Gag. His eldest daughter remained a virgin until marriage, but, get this, she also didn’t kiss or hold hands with her fiance until their wedding day. [Channel4.com] Keep reading »
The British anti-violence charity Women’s Aid just released this PSA starring Keira Knightley and directed by Joe Wright (“Atonement” and “Pride and Prejudice”). “I wanted to take place in this advert for Women’s Aid because while domestic violence exists in ever section of society, we rarely hear about it,” Knightley said. “We may not think we know someone who has experienced domestic violence, but this does not mean that it is not happening.” Beware, because the two-minute video is disturbing — but then so is domestic violence, and maybe we need to be shocked into realizing what’s goes on in some relationships. Rihanna, are you listening? [E News] Keep reading »
On last night’s episode of “The Real Housewives Of New York City,” Kelly Bensimon attempted to tear Bethenny a new you-know-what for daring to call her “Madonna” at the arthritis charity meeting. Bethenny, as you may recall, was appalled that Kelly wouldn’t put her name on the invitation (Kelly doesn’t lend her name to anything), which just added to her general dislike of the latest housewife.
[Note: Personally, I think the [soon-to-be-former] C(o)untess LuAnn had Kelly added to the show so she would seem less evil in comparison. Totally worked, FYI, as LuAnn seems like Mother Theresa to me now.] Keep reading »
This weekend, I posted a how to on my hairdo, the pompadour. But even after seven years of stylin’, I ain’t got nothin’ on these FLDS polygamists. Heck, Peggy Bundy would kill for their kind of poof! Sigh, especially after watching three seasons of Nicki pomp up the volume on “Big Love”, I want the big hair hotness too! And so does Oprah. When the voice of the people went to interview them, O asked the question we all had on our mind: what’s up with the updo?! The girls were sweet enough to
let us steal share their secrets of the tease in this informative video — funny, it’s strikingly similar to my method…
