For the past few months, it’s been all reality, all the time. Then two weeks ago, the CW showed up to get you addicted to their newest trashtastic shows. Now, the major networks are stepping up to the plate with their new fall offerings. Our picks: “The Good Wife,” “Cougar Town,” and “FlashForward.” And we’re pretty pumped for the return of “How I Met Your Mother” and “Californication” too. Happy Tivo-ing.

All weekend, I’ve been humming “Don’t Be Tardy To The Party.” This is the ultimate sign that I am a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” addict. So I was excited to see that BravoTV.com has posted the images of the ladies that photographer Derek Blanks shot a few weeks back. NeNe Leakes creative director for the shoot, picked a pair of alter egos for each woman to embody. Originally, she wanted Kim Zolciak to pose as a black woman, but Kim wasn’t so into that idea. “It would have required me to be painted black, which is SO insensitive,” Kim wrote on her blog. “And NeNe is mad that I won’t do something that would not only disrespect her but an entire race of people?! Not happening.” Instead, Kim posed for the photo above as a Stepford Wife and a rich wife. Only, Kim was surprised to see the words “rich wife” replaced with “mistress” and swears on her blog that she never agreed to that. “Who in the hell would agree to be a mistress??” she wrote. “I wish these ladies would stop acting like I am the only one who has dated someone in a dissolving marriage.”
After the jump, see all the photos. Keep reading »
Jeffrey Donovan’s much-desired butt got a little close to the casting couch Sunday night. Well, kind of. At a benefit concert, the “Burn Notice” star auctioned off two walk-on roles on the show for $18,000 each. Maybe the lucky female bidders were under the impression that the cameos involved smooching Donavan’s character (Michael Westen)? Seriously though, kudos to the USA Network for greenlighting this casting-for-charity scheme. [People]
But I’ve gotta wonder: Is buying a role the new form of auditioning? After the jump, see three more roles that were assigned through unconventional means. Keep reading »
Meet Vecente. He was a guest on “The Tyra Show” for the judgment day episode and said some really hateful and hurtful things about another guest because the guest has dark skin. As you can see from the video above, Vecente makes some statements that are really infuriating, but he reportedly claims the show’s producers and Tyra told him what kind of character he was supposed to portray. He also says the talk show is scripted. Vecente says his racist, politically incorrect statements were only for television purposes. [Media Takeout]
He could be lying as a result of the backlash he’s received since his appearance aired, but I’m pretty sure I’ve caught “The Tyra Show” using an actor as a guest at least once. I watched an episode from the first season, I believe, in which this guy who Tyra said was a lawyer in real life was supposed to pretend to be a stalker so a woman could learn not to trust men she meets just because they look wealthy. A few hours after the episode ended, I saw the same guy in a commercial for something that slips my mind. He was an actor and the commercial continued to air after that episode. Keep reading »
As a longtime worshiper at the temple of O, I have recently been questioning Oprah’s street cred. Is the talk show queen really slipping in popularity, as her seven-point Nielsen rating drop suggested? As soon as her 23rd season (yes, believe it) began, I got my answer … hell no! Fresh off tell-all interviews with Erin Andrews, and THE Whitney Houston, Oprah is back with a bang this season, proving that she is still the high priestess of hip. What’s in store for the eager viewers of America like me? Keep reading »
Over at Needles and Sins, Marisa points us to Bravo’s 57-page slide show of the seriously tattooed contestants of “Top Chef: Las Vegas.” Our favorite? Pictured here, Michael Voltaggio‘s beautifully rendered forearm koi fish. (That he’s cute doesn’t hurt, although the work must have.) Check out the 30-year-old, Maryland-born, James Beard finalist’s culinary-themed tattoos after the jump. [Via Needles and Sins] Keep reading »
Although “The Real Housewives of Orange County” was the first in the franchise, the show has been like an annoying stepsister since “The Real Housewives of New York City” premiered, because the O.C. women only seem to shop, booze, and complain. However, that all seems to change in the upcoming fifth season. Keep reading »
“The Newlywed Game” has been on the air since 1967 and in all those, oh, thousands of episodes they have never included a gay couple. Why? Because the rules of the show specifically state that the couple must be legally married, which whittles the number of same-sex candidates down significantly. Thankfully, the show, which now airs on the Game Show Network (GSN) and is hosted by Carnie Wilson, is about to welcome its first gay couple to the stage. And it’ll be Mr. Sulu from “Star Trek!” Yep, George Takei and his partner, Brad Altman, will be appearing on the show in October for a special celebrity episode. They’ll be going head-to-head with Davy Jones of The Monkees and his new bride, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry, and Jonny Fairplay of “Survivor” and his lady. Davy Jones was my childhood crush, so I sort of hope he wins, but I think Takei has it in the bag. This couple got married last year in Los Angeles, before the whole Proposition 8 thing, and just celebrated their first anniversary. But they’ve been together for 22 years.

Martha Stewart has a sense of humor. Can you believe it?! She lets her daughter and her daughter’s bestie make fun of her daytime show on their own show, “Whatever, Martha.”
The pair of pals watch the craft-tastic episodes and crack jokes like they’re the Patsy and Edina
of homemaking. Instead of uppers and champagne, these gals’ favorite pill is control freak Martha. While they’re in their second season, I just saw this sarcastic television gem on the Fine Living channel last week and now I’m totes addicted to their hilarious heckling! Keep reading »
