Look, you could choose to get really upset about the rampant objectification of women and flagrant misogyny in a movie like “Piranha 3DD.” Or, you could realize that this is a film starring David Hasselhoff and Ving Rhames — and that the latter sports a pair of prosthetic gun legs throughout. Do you really want to waste your time being mad at that? Instead, why not put on some 3-D glasses and enjoy the very top-heavy ride? I know I will. [Perez Hilton]

Well, I just about peed myself from excitement. Finally, a scene from the upcoming OMG-whyyyyy-isn’t-it-out-yet movie, “The Hunger Games,” has been released on the web and it is exactly the way I pictured things when I was reading the book. In the scene, Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is presenting her bow-and-arrow skills to a group of distracted judges — so she gets their attention in an aggressive and brave way. Check it out above. March 23 cannot get here soon enough. [MTV.com]

We may be a little old to go see Disney movies by ourselves (although not too old to belt out “Part Of Your World” the shower). But we’ll be dragging the nearest seven-year-old to drag to a theater and to see “Brave,” Pixar’s newest computer-animated film with a female protagonist. Lots of Disney flicks star princesses who are sweet, passive, and looking for love; “Brave” stars a spunky gal who is a skilled archer and not content with the life her parents want for her. Princess Merida lives in the Scottish highlands and defies her parents wishes and insists on following her own path in life. Pixar has released a three-minute clip from “Brave” (longer than the teaser trailer they released before) and we have to say we’re digging it! Anyone down for a mass-Frisky reader movie-going trip? The worst library books ever. Read More »

Finally, finally, one of Judy Blume’s books has been made into a movie … and we might just be a wee excited about that. Tiger Eyes, one of her more grown-up YA books, is about a 15-year-old girl named Davey whose mom uproots the family to move in with relatives in New Mexico after their dad is shot during a hold-up. Davey has to come to terms with her grief, accept her mother’s new boyfriend into her life, and see if she can grow close to Wolf, a friend in her new town who’s the only person who seems to understand her. “Tiger Eyes” the movie will star Willa Holland from “Gossip Girl” and Amy Jo Johnson from “Felicity”; the script was written by Judy Blume and her son, Lawrence Blume.  It’s coming out later this year.

Seriously, how is it possible this is the first time any of Judy Blume’s books has been made into a film but there have been 17 “American Pie” movies? [Entertainment Weekly]
