God love her, but Lena Dunham has a particular way about her. Which is why Chelsea Davison’s spot-on impersonation of Dunham auditioning for the movie “Zero Dark Thirty” is so hilarious. “You know,” says Davidson’s Dunham, “if I actually have to waterboard you, that is really going to scar me, like, emotionally.” [YouTube]

Last night, I sat down to watch “Zero Dark Thirty,” the Oscar-nominated film about the U.S. military operation that killed Osama bin Laden. I was prepared to have mixed feelings about the movie; while everything I’d read suggested that it was fantastic filmmaking, the movie has also been criticized for being inaccurate and, ostensibly, pro-torture. However, I was not prepared to pop such a serious girl boner for so many of the dudes in the film. Yes, yes, the movie, in my opinion, totally leaves the viewer with the impression that information gathered from tortured detainees contributed to the CIA finding OBL and killing him, but the movie also left me with the impression that I’d like to some naughty things of my own to actor Jason Clarke… Keep reading »
The nominees for the Academy Awards were announced this morning and I thought they were all sorts of WTF. While there were some awesome surprises (Quvenzhané Wallis is the youngest nominee ever for “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and there was a lot of love shown for the foreign language film “Amour”), there were many snubs that left me scratching my head. For starters, Kathryn Bigelow (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Ben Affleck (“Argo”) and Quentin Tarantino (“Django Unchained”) were all snubbed in the Best Director category, despite being considered shoe-ins. Hugh Jackman and Bradley Cooper landed Best Actor nominations but John Hawkes, who was beyond brilliant in “The Sessions,” was overlooked. At least my beloved Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for “The Master.” I’m sure he’s surly about it.
And, I mean, where were the nominations for “Magic Mike”?! I kid. Sort of. Other observations: the Academy clearly has a major boner for “Silver Linings Playbook,” “The Master” received a lot of recognition in the acting categories but won’t win anything, and no matter what, Anne Hathaway is walking away with Best Supporting Actress, as much as I wish Amy Adams’ handjob had a shot. Check out the list of nominees for the acting, directing and picture categories after the jump, and the full list of nominees at the link. [Oscars] Keep reading »
The ever-classy and compelling Jessica Chastain is one of the last Hollywood actresses I would ever expect to get scantily clad for a lad mag, yet here she is on the cover of British GQ! And hey, she could teach some of our more indiscriminate starlets a thing or two, because girlfriend looks smokin’. I had no idea she had such great boobs! (Still no word on why her mouth is hanging dumbly ajar in every shot, but you know photographers are always pulling that shit.) I’m not one for war movies, but I have to admit I can’t wait to see “Zero Dark Thirty,” especially with Jessica as the leading lady. Check out more photos from inside the magazine, after the jump!
