All The Pretty Boys
Starting tomorrow the prettiest of all the pretty boys, Zac Efron, will appear in “High School Musical 3,” the final chapter in the franchise that made him a star. While we were a little turned on by his performance in last year’s “Hairspray,” we just can’t get over how there isn’t a stray hair on his head, and how perfectly groomed his eyebrows are. Was he born this way, or does he have a glam-squad that keeps him beautiful? We’re inclined to think the latter. Pretty boys are nice to look at, but we don’t think we’d date one for fear that people would take one look at us with them and scream, “Mismatch!” Below, some pretty boy archetypes. Keep reading »
Zac Efron Gets Footloose!
“High School Musical 3: Senior Year”, the last in the mega-popular series, just hit theaters this weekend, but its leading man, Zac Efron, really is graduating! Paramount plans on remaking “Footloose,” the classic ’80s flick starring Kevin Bacon, and Efron is signed on to star as the rebellious toe tapper, Ren McCormack. That’s right, the singing and dancing dreamboat is going to shake his butt in another big musical about high schoolers. Hmm, “Hairspray”, the “HSM” franchise, and now “Footloose” — the dude has got a niche! But even Kevin Bacon is sure Zac will attack the role and gave him his boogie blessing. In case you’re still hungry for some Bacon, check out the original bad boy strutting his stuff after the jump. [The Hollywood News] Keep reading »
Questionable Guy Trend: The Manscaped Eyebrow
Manscaping isn’t just a trend, it’s a bare necessity. While women have been waxing and plucking their eyebrows for ages, gentlemen are finally catching on and it’s become an eye-opening phenomenon. Salons and barbershops across the country are reporting record numbers of guys getting their brows waxed, tweezed, shaped, and shaved. Even Sephora is offering special products to de-unibrow dudes and even enhance their arch — like Gaultier’s $18 Monsieur Groomer gel. But is too much of a good thing, like manscaping, not a good thing at all? Keep reading »
The Daily NOTness: Zac Efron With A Ponytail
Not that we normally find Zac Efron particularly attractive, but the half-ponytail is definitely not a good style for him, even if leaving his hair down covers up those baby blues of his. Keep reading »
Poll: How Do You Feel About Guys Who Wear Makeup?
The number of men who wear makeup seems to be picking up a bit, thanks to famous guys like Zac Efron and Pete Wentz, who probably have cosmetic bags of their own in their bathrooms (as opposed to “borrowing” their gal pals’ products). Some people think it’s okay for guys to use a little concealer to cover up the occasional blemish, but it seems to be going a bit farther than that. “It looks really gay — and I’m a gay boy,” hair and make-up artist Bradwyn Jones told the Sydney Morning Herald “It looks a bit drag. Give a guy a license to put it on and they’ll be heavy-handed.”
In my life, I’ve only known a few guys who wear makeup, and there’s been a spectrum of intensity. One male friend of mine uses a moisturizer with self-tanner, but it looks natural and not at all orange or makeup-y on him, as he’s normally darker anyway. And then in high school, one of my friends who had lovely blue eyes wore mascara regularly to draw attention to them, and I think when he went out, he would even put on a subtle amount of eyeliner or eyeshadow. Slideshow: 2008 MTV Movie Awards
At last night’s MTV Movie Awards, there were lots of bad clothes. Personally, I think Ellen Page (winner of Best Female Performance) dressed quite appropriately for the event, wearing jeans and sneakers. Fancy dresses are not what the MTV Movie Awards should be about, especially if they’re short dresses. As Lindsay Lohan discovered, wearing a short dress while sitting in a movie theater means showing more leg than you may have planned. [MTV] Keep reading »
