New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear: Days 5 & 6

Amazingly, Fashion People were undeterred by the foot-plus of snow we received this weekend, and New York Fashion Week carried on as usual. Total champs — we certainly can’t say the same about our weekend, which we spent contained safely indoors in front of the television. This is just a small selection from the many, many incredible shows that took place over the weekend and into this week. Let’s see what Alexander Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Victoria Beckham, Derek Lam, Zac Posen, and Marc by Marc Jacobs have in mind for the Autumn/Winter 2013 season… Keep reading »

So what if her film “Mirror Mirror” is getting so-so reviews and is being demolished by “The Hunger Games” at the box office? Lily Collins is like, “I’m just going to rock out the Paris premiere of my Snow White movie in this gorgeous Zac Posen floral gown like it don’t even matter.” That’s the correct attitude, lady.

Crystal Renn Models For Zac Posen Pre-Fall, The World Wonders About Her Weight Again

We’re beginning to wonder if the size debate surrounding model Crystal Renn will ever die down. She’s been hailed a plus-size icon but keeps stunning audiences with her fluctuating weight. For her latest work, she modeled for Zac Posen‘s pre-fall 2011 lookbook and can hardly be called plus-sized by these photos. We become more and more confused as to whether we should be praising Renn, or critical when she loses weight. (In the end, we don’t mean to make judgments, bash, or use her as a global example; it’s just that it’s hard to not talk about it.) In these pics, she’s not stick-thin, and it feels almost stupid that we can praise just that. But … she does look very svelte, especially in a pose where she wraps her hands around her entire waist … can anyone do that besides incredibly thin people? [Vogue UK] Keep reading »

Gia Coppola And The Like Heart Zac Posen For Target

Plenty Of “Lesbian Prom” Wear At Target Thanks To Zac Posen

Teen Vogue (via Shine) posted a preview of Zac Posen’s Target collection and asked the designer the usual “What was your inspiration?” question. His answer was surprising enough to get the interview picked up on a whole bunch of blogs today:

“Lesbian proms have been such a big thing in the news lately. Rather than create a fake subculture, I wanted to address things that are actually happening.” Not that you need to be gay to wear the tux; it just takes confidence. It’s a kick-ass girl who can wear a tuxedo to prom! Don’t be afraid of drama.”

Totally Sexy, Totally Wearable Hair At Zac Posen

Backstage at Zac Posen, Odile Gilbert (seriously, one of the most amazing hairstylists of our time) performed a feat by combining urban long hair chic with Posen’s ’40s-inspired collection. “We wanted to create a simple yet sexy look this season that is very wearable,” Odile said. “Zac and I talked about how influential the downtown scene is and it felt like a great fit with his clothes to have long wavy hair with some body to it. The results were really beautiful hair that bounced as the models walked the runway.” But it’s not just a runway-friendly look; it’s also perfect for a night out. Here’s how to get the look. Now You Can Afford Zac Posen! Maybe…

Zac Posen knows how to please the masses. For those who just can’t afford his normal line, the designer has decided to launch a lower priced collection, and no, it’s not with Target. Instead, he’s created Z Spoke, a collection of 60 pieces, which will be sold only at Saks Fifth Avenue starting this spring. Ready for the prices? Items start at $78. “I think it’s going to surprise people,” said Zac. “This is about a new identity.” It’s not all cheap though. Dresses can go for upwards of $600 dollars, but when you compare that to his regular line, well, it is cheaper. So what can we expect to see in stores? According to Zac, it’s a minimalist and utilitarian look, full of knits, cotton shirting, blazers and pleated khaki shorts that was inspired by downtown chic looks, like those of Lower East Side girls. [Wait, like me and Erin? -- Editor] While these are no Target prices, it does open the Posen brand to a whole new audience. We’ll keep you posted… [WWD] Keep reading »

Quick Pic: Zac Posen And Coco Rocha Share A Dress

Designer Zac Posen thought he was underdressed at last night’s Friends of New Yorkers For Children Spring Dinner Dance, so he borrowed part of model Coco Rocha’s dress. Luckily, it matched his tux. [New York City, 4/15/09] Keep reading »

Fashion The Vote With Zac Posen

Fashion designer Zac Posen is looking for stylish self-portraits of pollsters for Fashion the Vote. Tomorrow at the polls, take a photograph of yourself voting in your election finest — whether it’s homemade or high-end — send Zac your picture, and he’ll post it to the website for all to admire. The only challenge is that it appears you have to vote for Obama to make the cut. Of course, maybe if you send him a pic of yourself voting for McCain in your favorite Palin-inspired outfit, he’ll post that, too. Or, well, maybe not. [Fashionista] Keep reading »
