has just come out with this promo video for its new line of men’s sneakers. With the cheesy video techniques and pumping electro music, the clip is kind of hilarious—something we’d imagine running in the background of “Zoolander.” Maybe they should have just called this “Guys-too-hot-for-their-own-good Standing Around in Sneakers Looking Hot.” Blue Steel! For the past few years, the French manicure has been on the style fence as a slightly tacky favorite. We predict that Yves Saint Laurent‘s “couture manicure” nail polish set will cause a trend wave and completely refresh the traditional manicure. (Of course it would take a Frenchie to make the style chic again … nevermind that he’s dead. He’s just that good.) Called Rock & Baroque, the super bright colors pair up fabulously to create flashy nail/tip combos. Hues in the mix: juicy orange, dark sea foam, metallic gold, magenta, and deep purple. Our favorite way to rock this look? Stick to two colors like the purple and green (although painting different nails several colors works, too), alternating the nail and tip shade every few nails to create an imbalanced aesthetic. Quirky! [Vogue Paris] Keep reading »
Add this to the list of things you don’t need—an Yves Saint Laurent travel adapter, which costs an astonishing $450. So what does this baby do? The gadget lets you convert nearly any plug you’ve got to fit the power outlets of 150 countries. So … when you’re in Israel and need to plug in your Russian hairdryer, you’ll be all set. Happy International Women’s Day! (Congrats on having a vagina. And on being generally awesome. And so much more.)
If this all crept up on you, and you’re stuck behind your desk all day, here’s a quick and easy way to lend your support to the female community—sign your name on the Yves Saint Laurent and UNIFEM (the women’s fund at the United Nations) anti-violence campaign. Showing your support for the “Say No to Violence” action will join you with the UNIFEM-YSL alliance, which promises to “highlight the issue and call attention to working strategies and solutions that apply in developing countries and are applicable in the developed world as well.” In addition, the initiative will provide resources and grants in a variety of areas.
A tip of the hat to YSL for using its fashion power for good and supporting the global women’s community. [SayNoToViolence.org] Keep reading »
Yes, that’s a shot of the late Yves Saint Laurent‘s former “country home.” But really, would you expect anything less from one of the most luxe fashion designers of all time? The mansion in Deauville, France, is dripping with extravagance, and now you can get a look inside and even own a piece of it — Christie’s is auctioning off the wares inside. Granted, you have to be pretty wealthy to take part (sigh, as always).
But the eclectic collection of furniture and decorative accents makes for entertaining viewing pleasure. Feast your eyes on an elk chandelier, Grecian urns, and tons of Rococo furniture. Our favorite item, however, has to be a collection of porcelain bulldogs. So random! (Yet weirdly chic as well.) Some more pics after the jump! [Paris By Appointment Only] Keep reading »
