Lady Gaga didn’t think one video for “Yoü and I” was enough, so she has also created six “fashion films” about each of the vid’s assorted characters. She’s shown us the Nymph and the Bride and, today, she released the third video in the series about her mermaid alter ego, Yüyi. The film, called “Haus of Ü Featuring Yüyi,” shows Gaga as a mermaid writhing in a director’s chair, smoking a cigarette, and being carried out of a trailer. And yes, she has gils. Lots of them.

Yesterday, Lady Gaga‘s video for “Yoü and I” was supposed to premiere on MTV at exactly 7:49p.m. However, after it leaked earlier in the week, Gaga jumped the gun on unveiling the video, which features her as mermaid Yuyi and as dude Jo Calderone, as well as rocking her mother’s actual wedding dress. To make it up to MTV, Gaga still sat down with Sway at the anointed time to talk about the video. Because the song has that umlaut in the name, I had wondered if it was a reference to Lüc Carl. And that sure appears to be the case, though perhaps they are broken up after all? “I wrote the song about this guy that I used to date … Sometimes in love, you can’t make it work,” said Gaga. “No matter what you do, there’s this giant boundary between you and someone else. So that’s what it’s about, perceiving in your imagination that there’s something magical inside of you that you can make it work.” Whoa. That’s kinda very true. Keep reading »
Lady Gaga has promised us that her 1,000th tweet will be the fourth single off Born This Way, “Yoü and I.” And since we are only eight tweets away, over the weekend Gaga posted the cover art for the single along with the message, “You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don’t love yourself.” The image is, of course, Gaga herself as her male alter-ego, Joe Calderone.
