Police Think They’ve Found Missing Yale Student Annie Le’s Body

New Haven police have discovered a body stuffed inside a wall at a lab in the School of Medicine where missing Yale student Annie Le was last seen alive on Tuesday. Although police are still waiting to identify the body, it’s fair to assume it’s probably Le. This weekend, bloody clothes were found stuffed in the ceiling of the lab as well. This horrible story is nothing short of tragic: Le had planned to marry her fiance, Jonathan Widawsky, a grad student at Columbia, this past weekend, and on Friday their families canceled the nuptials. Some had initially wondered if Le was a runaway bride, but all evidence indicated she was really excited to get married. Our thoughts go out to Widawsky and the couple’s families. [New York Times]

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m. on Monday: This is beyond sad. As suspected, the body found in the walls of a Yale School Of Medicine lab belongs to Annie Le. Police are calling the cause of death a homicide. Although the murderer has not been identified, police say Le’s killing was targeted.—[NY Post] Additional reports say the suspect, who police confirm is not a fellow Yale student as previously reported, has flunked lie detector tests.—[NY Daily News] Keep reading »

Is Annie Le, The Missing Yale Student, A Runaway Bride?

Annie Le, a 24-year-old Yale grad student about to marry her Columbia University fiancée this weekend, has been missing since Tuesday. Le left behind her purse with her cell phone, credit cards and money, police in New Haven, Connecticut, say. On the day she went missing, Le used her Yale student ID at round 10 a.m. to check into a laboratory where she’s working on her doctorate in pharmacology. Police are checking security cameras to see if Le, who is 4’11″ and 90 lbs, was in the building when it was evacuated at around 1 p.m. during a fire alarm. Here’s hoping Le is just a runaway bride with cold feet and she turns up OK. [NY Daily News] Keep reading »

Gossip Girl: This Was A Straight Up Filler Episode

Every television show needs to have that filler episode that addresses the obvious issues that are going to come up, particularly in the case of “Gossip Girl” — Where can they all go to college in order to continue the show? Just like “Beverly Hills, 90210″ and “Dawson’s Creek”, we’re sure creator Josh Schwartz is already worried about how to move his show about high school to the next natural step — college. However, last night’s episode of “Gossip Girl” was highly unrealistic and missing that certain je ne sais quoi that gets me all revved up for Monday nights. Keep reading »

The Yale Abortion Artist: Well Now We Feel Stupid.

Grrr. So. That Yale art student and her abortion project? Totally BS. Kudos to gillybeans for smelling a stinker. Yale issued a statement today saying that Aliza Shvarts’ story was a fake, but still a part of her real art project. Um, making us feel stupid? Sort of. The statement read: “The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.” For the record, I still don’t think this is art. [Yale.edu]

UPDATE: [And I swear this is the last thing I am going to write about this annoying little twit, but I feel compelled to update you all since the subject inspired so much discussion.] Now Shvarts is disputing Yale’s claim that her project was a work of fiction, saying Shvarts that she repeatedly “used a needleless syringe to insert semen into herself, and at the end of her menstrual cycle, she took abortifacient herbs to induce bleeding.” But she doesn’t know whether or not she actually was ever pregnant. “No one can say with 100-percent certainty that anything in the piece did or did not happen,” Shvarts said, “because the nature of the piece is that it did not consist of certainties.” YAWN. I’m bored. [Yale Daily News] Keep reading »

Why We Love Yale Sluts

After years of studying and not getting laid just so they could get into Yale, some Zeta Psi recruits have officially blown their chances of ever enjoying a woman’s touch. The freshmen frat wannabes posted a picture on Facebook of themselves in front of the Women’s Center on campus with a sign that read, “We Love Yale Sluts”. The misogynistic mayhem culminated with a chorus of, “Dick! Dick! Dick!” (We’d expect more from the Ivy League, but bare in mind this is G.W. Bush’s alma mater.) Needless to say, the women on campus have pledged to never put out for Zeta Psi and the administration is debating whether they will sue for the inflammatory sign. Looks like sluts aren’t just well loved, they also rule the school. [Yale Daily News]

Denzel As A Dad

Denzel Washington’s kids are growing up and he’s getting a little nervous. “My oldest girl has got a boyfriend, who is at the school where she is. He is obviously very bright, but has too many earrings for my liking.” How many earrings does Denzel think is too many? We’re guessing one. But despite sending his oldest son to terrorize his daughter’s Yale boyfriend, he admitted that he has a bit of a double-standard. When it comes to his sons dating, he praised them when they started, saying, “That’s my boy.” [Star Pulse] Keep reading »
