Lingerie-inspired dressing is hot right now, and celebrities are taking note. Just last night, Miley Cyrus attended the premiere of “The Hunger Games” in a glorified bra-and-maxi skirt combo. While her interpretation fell flat for us, I would totally snag that bustier top and pair it with something less matchy-matchy, or even wear it under a sheer blouse. Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry are all repeat offenders, and Madonna made it famous in her day, so maybe it’s a pop star thing. However, just because they wear theirs cropped above the bellybutton doesn’t mean you have to — a bustier-style tank top or dress is equally alluring without the added midriff exposure. So, what do you think? Would you wear it? After the jump, check out my choice picks for emulating the trend. Keep reading »

Would You Wear: Preen For Aldo Giffee Sandal?

I’m all for Aldo’s collaborations with high-end designers at a lower price point, and I usually die for Preen, but I don’t know if these are working for me. They’re a replica of the shoes worn on the runway in the design duo’s heavily pixelated spring 2012 collection, but I wasn’t so sure of them there, either. I loved the dresses in the show mainly because of the large scale of the pixels, so I think this condensed incarnation lacks the impact of a bigger print. I do, however, love that chunky, sculptural heel. I’m so torn. What do you think? Would you wear them? ($155, Aldo)

Would You Wear: Floral Pants?

As anyone who’s flipped through a fashion magazine in the past month will know, florals are really happening right now. The pattern formerly reserved for tapestries and the old pillows at your grandmother’s house has reclaimed its glory and is being worn in all its incarnations. One garment in particular became ubiquitous on the spring/summer runway, and now it’s popping up on fashion editors and celebrities alike. The unexpected rise of the floral pant is inescapable: they’re everywhere, so you may as well embrace it, even (and especially!) if they’re out of your usual comfort zone. Personally, I think they’re an awesome look, particularly when worn with an otherwise neutral, streamlined outfit. What do you think: would you wear them? If you’re looking to get your hands on a pair, check out my picks after the jump. Keep reading »

Would You Wear: Feather Hair Extensions?

Way back in January, Julie wrote about the awesomeness of feather hair extensions. I’ve always thought they were cute, but wasn’t totally sold on them until I saw them in action at my friend Becca’s wedding. Becca’s sister was wearing a simple black bridesmaid’s dress and a few strands of striped feathers in her blond hair. The feathers added such a cool bohemian vibe to her outfit, and I’ve been scouring Etsy shops for a similar look ever since. So I was wondering: how do you guys feel about this trend? Would you wear feather extensions? [$22, Etsy] Keep reading »

Would You Wear This Over-The-Top Chain Vest?

We love chains, lots of them. We love mixing metals and harnesses too. But does Arden B go overboard with this chain vest? All those beads and tassels and pearls and chains of different lengths around the chest pulling and drooping at the same time. And what would one wear with it? You could always pull a Christina Aguilera and wear nothing underneath it. Yeah, that makes it useful. Not! [$59, Arden B] Keep reading »

Self-Toning Clothing: Miracle Or Misrepresentation?

Between Thanksgiving and all of the holiday dinners that will be going down this month, a few extra pounds will probably be hiding under our belts. And as tried and true as diet and exercise can be to limit the extra poundage we put on, a faster, more immediate “cure” sounds better. There are Spanx, there are creams, there are pills, and now there are clothes that supposedly work you out — get this — without working out! Sure, you could wear them while working out, but isn’t the whole point to not have to?! I want to believe that these pricey workout clothes can turn my fine but flabby body into the perfect celeb figure of my dreams, all without changing my normal (and minimal) exercise regime. If they don’t work, though, I’ll have just wasted enough money to make an entire second Thanksgiving dinner. Boo. So what do you think — would you try this fad out? [$55-$80, Reebok] Keep reading »
