  • Haven Middle School in Evanston, Illinois, has banned female students from wearing leggings, shorts and yoga pants, allegedly because the clothes are “too distracting for boys.” Sigh, and body policing and the “Are Leggings Pants?” debate continues. Some grown men can’t handle yoga pants, either. Janice Chan, a Brooklyn lawyer-turned-entrepreneur (read: badass) is tired of the judgment women sometimes receive for carrying condoms. She also didn’t like storing her condoms in fancy business card cases or makeup bags when going out, but the only condom cases she found on the market were geared toward men. Now she’s created a company called The Plan A Project that creates beautiful condom cases for women, which are small enough to fit inside even the tiniest clutch.(We know, because she sent us a couple samples!) Judge Strikes Down Arkansas’ Ban On Abortion After 12 Weeks

  • A federal judge stuck down part of an anti-abortion “fetal heartbeat” law in Arkansas which would ban abortions after 12 weeks. Instead, the judge said that fetal viability should determine the legality of abortion. The other part of the law which requires doctors to perform an ultrasound and notify if the pregnant woman if her fetus has a heartbeat will still remains. [LA Times]
