UPDATE (Sunday, 3:45 p.m. EST): TMZ is now reporting that Whitney Houston was found in her room’s bathtub and that it’s possible she drowned? Sources also say prescription drugs were found in the room and that Houston took Xanax before performances; only an autopsy will be able to reveal if she died via drowning, overdose, or some other cause. An autopsy is scheduled for today, but an official cause of death won’t be available until the toxicology report is complete.

Seriously sad news to report: the Associated Press is reporting that singer Whitney Houston died today at the age of 48. She is survived by her daughter Bobbi Kristina (with ex husband Bobby Brown). The singer was photographed leaving a pre-Grammy party on Thursday night looking potentially intoxicated. Houston, of course, battled drug addiction in the past, although there is no word on her cause of death. In May 2011, Houston’s representative said that the singer had checked into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction. She had recently been seen out and about with former boyfriend Ray J.  [TMZ, Dlisted, CNN]

More upsetting news: TMZ is reporting that Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, was rushed from the Beverly Hilton Hotel — where her mother passed away yesterday — to the hospital today. No word on why or what her possible condition is. Last night, Bobbi Kristina allegedly got into a shouting match with law enforcement because they wouldn’t let her inside her mother’s room. According to Us Weekly, the grieving young woman is being treated for “stress,” and was taken from the hotel on a stretcher (though I believe that is standard procedure when an ambulance is called).  [Us Weekly]

Our thoughts and prayers are with Houston’s only child, and we hope that her family and friends are focused on giving her the support she needs.

On-and-off couple Whitney Houston and Ray J are reportedly dating again. After first making headlines as a couple in 2007, the two are rumored to be on their third breakup-and-makeup escapade.

Even though the pop idol/diva/six-time Grammy Award winner already had a big career before her beau could babble the word “Kim,” the two had no problem publically displaying their interest in one another at an L.A. club recently. This may very well be the highlight of Ray J’s career. With a few mediocre albums, a sex tape with America’s most disliked reality star, and a failed reality show of his own under his belt, dating one of America’s most sensational stars may be his greatest achievement.

So I say power to the two of you! Get back together and make it work this time. Just stop picking fights with Bobby Brown, Ray. Although, I suppose it’s your prerogative. [Lalate News]

The progeny of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina, is no longer the chubby little brat we remember from “Being Bobby Brown.” This past week, a 17-year-old Bobbi posted this video of her covering Adele‘s “Someone Like You” on her Twitter page. If my ears are hearing her correctly, she appears to be carrying on her parents’ (well, at least her mother’s) musical legacy. Let’s hope she didn’t also inherit mommy’s penchant for crack. Hmm. I seem to recall some photos of her snorting white lines that she claimed weren’t what they looked like. Sigh. Bobbi, crack is whack. It would be sad to waste another perfectly good set of pipes. The headline reads: “Whitney Houston Once Got Intimate With Michael Jackson’s Pet Monkey Bubbles.” What does that mean exactly? It means that David Gest (that weird looking fellow who was married to Liza Minnelli) made some interesting claims during his interview for the upcoming Michael Jackson documentary. “Whitney was having dinner with Michael at his Neverland home when she accidentally dropped her knife under the table. While Michael was retrieving it for her, Whitney felt her toes being sucked. She moaned, ‘Michael, is that you? Don’t stop. Whitney Houston Is In Rehab … To Cleanse?

According to TMZ, singer Whitney Houston has entered an out-patient rehab program, but not because she’s got a problem with drugs or alcohol. No, a source told the gossip site that Whitney is “cleansing herself to get ready for a new movie.” In this particular program, apparently, Whitney can go about her usual business but she wears a “monitor.” Monitoring what, exactly? Here’s my hunch — this is all legalese. Whitney isn’t sayin’ she has a problem with drugs or booze, but she’s drying out — er, cleansing — from one or both and the monitor is to make sure she sticks to it. In other words, she’s (probably) on a booze and drug sabbatical! Hey, I wouldn’t have minded a monitor when I was doing mine… [TMZ]

UPDATE: Whitney’s rep issued a statement to People which says: “Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment. Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.” I still don’t really get what that means, but good luck to you Whitney! [People] Keep reading »
