Carey Mulligan Reveals Her Bra On The Cover Of W

"Shame" Trailer

Carey Mulligan is a great actress and has brought a maturity to all of her roles — from “An Education” to “Never Let Me Go” to “Drive” — despite her youthful age. In her latest movie “Shame,” she tackles seriously sexy territory and even has a nude scene. Still, I was sort of surprised to see her on the cover of W in basically just a white bra. I’m used to seeing starlets like Megan Fox and Lindsay Lohan in just their skivvies, but there’s something regal and elegant about Carey’s — and the magazine’s — approach. What do you think of this cover?

Nicki Minaj Look Oddly Regal On The Cover Of W

Big news for Nicki Minaj fans (aren’t we all?): the hip-hop starlet has scored the cover of her first “serious” fashion magazine, appearing in the November issue of W. Artist Francesco Vezzoli transformed the photos, as has become his style, so that Minaj embodied that of “a powdered 18th-century courtesan.” The photos are striking, a little strange, and certainly memorable. What do you think? [Celebuzz]

W Magazine Ages Amber Valetta 120 Years

Models are typically considered ready to be shipped off to the model glue factory before they even hit 25, but in an editorial for the September issue of W magazine, 37-year-old model Amber Valetta was aged a remarkable 120 years. Shot by photographer Steven Klein, Valetta channeled the timelessness of an age-defying Madonna (it can’t be merely coincidence that the copy refers to our heroine as a “material girl”), and stays sultry and supple–even with more than a century’s worth of wear and tear on her. Kristen Stewart, All Dolled Up

Well what do we have here? It appears that Ms. Tomboy herself, Kristen Stewart, has been spackled and lashed into girly submission. Here she is on the cover of the September issue of W magazine looking positively femme fatale. Who knew? [W Magazine] Keep reading »

Mila Kunis Wasn’t Raised To Be Pretty

“I was never raised to think that I was pretty. It’s not that I was raised to think I was unattractive, but it was just never something that was pointed out to me by my family. They would point out personality traits—’Our daughter is really quirky’—versus what I look like, because inevitably, looks go, so it makes no difference.”

Mila Kunis reflects on her outer/inner beauty in W. Oh how easily these words roll off the tongue of a young, gorgeous woman. I completely respect that she was raised to be rewarded for inner beauty. I think it’s amazing. And I admire how humble and down to earth she is. BUT … she’s just so damn gorgeous that it’s easy for looks to be a non-issue. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »

Kim Kardashian Didn’t Think She Was Going To Look So Naked On Nude Magazine Cover

“Oh my God, I’m more naked that I was in Playboy. I’m so mad right now. [The magazine] promised I would be covered with artwork — you can see the nipples! The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen. I feel so taken advantage of … I’ve definitely learned my lesson. I’m never taking my clothes off again, even if it’s for Vogue.”

Kim Kardashian claims she was utterly bamboozled by the evil editors at W who pinky swore when she took a nudie photo for the magazine’s cover that she wouldn’t appear so nude. Now, I used to work in the magazine biz and I know that celebs can and do ask for the right to approve images if they’re really concerned about being seen in a certain light. If you’re gonna let a magazine photograph you butt naked and then take them at their word that they’re going to make you look less naked, you’re an idiot. [Us Weekly] Keep reading »

Mark Ruffalo’s Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat

Mark Ruffalo shows off his coat of many colors in this W magazine’s “Best Performers of the Year” series. He looks like he’s high on peyote, but God, do I adore him. [Dlisted] Keep reading »

Rooney Mara Channels Lisbeth Salander On The Cover Of W Magazine

Ever since it was announced that Rooney Mara would be playing Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s big screen version of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” people have been speculating about whether sweet Rooney can go hard. I think this W magazine cover of her in character proves that yes, she can at least look the part. Guess we’ll have to wait for the movie to see if she fully embodies it. See one more image after the jump. [W Magazine] Keep reading »

Breaking: Kim Kardashian Is Naked. Again.

I guess when you can’t sing, dance, or act, you get naked. Hey, it worked for Kim Kardashian, right? Behold the bodacious beauty and her silver painted bod on the art-themed November issue of W magazine. On the cover, Kim’s naughty bits are covered up by bits of artist Barbara Kruger’s text. Inside, she’s flat-out naked but for her body paint. So, does that make this art, not smut? It’s hard to conclude much about “art” by this, other than W‘s new editor is hellbent on moving copies any way he can. So much for what used to be my favorite magazine. See more at Oh No They Didn’t. W Magazine Says “The Girl Who Eats Her Feelings” Is A Back-To-School Look

“The girl who eats her feelings” is a new trend-setting clique to emulate, says W magazine’s recent piece on back-to-school style. If they were trying to describe the trend of wearing “curve-enhancing dresses worn with plenty of attitude,” why would they call that dressing like “the girl who eats her feelings”? That’s just … being curvy. Keep reading »
