It took hardly any time at all for Carine Roitfeld to find her footing outside of the Condé Nast empire. The fashion writer and stylist departed suddenly from Vogue Paris in 2010 following a ten-year tenure as editor-in-chief, citing a desire to concentrate on personal projects outside of the notorious magazine’s “gilded bird cage” (though rumors of internal discord abounded). In the two years since her resignation, Carine has stayed true to her vow that leaving the lofty post would not be the death knell of her career; in fact, with numerous freelance styling credits (including two Chanel campaigns), a large-format photo book, and a MAC collection to her name, the iconic Parisian has risen quite impressively from the ashes of her former title. If you’ve doubted Marion Cotillard’s star power at any point in the past few years since she starred as Édith Piaf in 2007′s breathtaking “La vie en rose,” now would be the time to reconsider. Not only has the pretty Parisian appeared in several films since then, but she’s directly atop the radar at this very moment with her role as Miranda Tate in the highly-anticipated “The Dark Night Rises,” out July 20. In light of her current (and, it should be said, totally deserved — she is a truly brilliant actress) Hollywood ubiquity, Marion scored not one, not two, but three magazine covers this August: Vogue, Vogue Paris, and Marie Claire UK will broadcast the Oscar winner’s beauty — and, with the curious exception of Vogue Paris, her equally recognizable beauty mark — on newsstands next month. Fellow Franco-fashion-philes, rejoice: the days of throwing down a 10-spot for a gloriously glossy, sumptuously Gallic Vogue Paris and reveling in the sad irony of only being able to enjoy the pictures are over. I can’t say that there’s been many details out regarding the news since the announcement on Friday, but it did come straight from the mouths (keyboards, rather) of the Vogue.fr staff via the mag’s Twitter account. Clearly they’re aware of the magnitude of the situation, considering this is the statement they released:

France gave the US the Statue of Liberty, now we are taking Vogue.fr to the wider world… get ready for #VogueParisinEnglish

As an ugly American who doesn’t speak French very well, but is what you might call (tongue firmly in cheek, natch) fluent in taking long drags off of cigarettes in holders (cancer-meets-class!) while listening to Serge Gainsbourg, donning high heels and greasy hair and, yes, skimming an ancient issue of Vogue Paris, I couldn’t be more excitée. Merci, Emmanuelle! [NY Mag]

Crystal Renn Gets Plastic Surgery For Vogue Paris

The last time we checked in with (former?) plus-sized model Crystal Renn, she was having an orgy with a plate of spaghetti. Now, she’s gone a few steps further down the weird trail with a new editorial in Vogue Paris — the December issue is guest-edited by designer Tom Ford — in which she plays a plastic surgery victim and frolics with young men. She also bares her cooch and generally looks like a loon. Check out some more examples of Crystal gone wild after the jump. Keep reading »

Lara Stone Goes Topless For Vogue Paris

For Paris Vogue‘s 90th anniversary, model Lara Stone took off her top to expose her decolletage. How to know the masked beauty is her? We’d know those gap teeth anywhere. The massive issue has 622 pages that editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld promises will be as provocative as ever: “Vogue Paris has always played the card of audacity,” she told WWD. Soon enough, they’ll probably do without the clothes altogether. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Ciara Gets Model-y For Vogue Paris

Ciara has been looking pretty unremarkable in photos lately. Don’t get me wrong, the singer/dancer’s body is still on point, but black leggings and eye-catching heels get kind of boring after a while. For the June/July 2010 issue of Vogue Paris, Ciara sheds her around-the-way attire and dons sheer, feathery, and glitzy garments instead. She stays on top of her shoe game, too, with a pair of thigh-high lace-up boots. The editorial was shot by fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. And Riccardo Tisci, Givenchy’s creative director, styled the looks. These sultry photos prove Ciara deserves her modeling contract with Wilhemina. And we can’t wait to see more of this side of her. Check out two more photos after the jump. Keep reading »
