It seems entirely possible that Lindsay Lohan never met a camera she didn’t like. In the most recent issue of Vogue Italy, LiLo does Hollywood chic for fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth. Here, we get to see what Lohan does at home: lights her cigarette using a gas stove, lounges about while journaling, and single-handedly attempts to keep the animal print trend alive. “I made terrible mistakes, but from whom I learned much,” Lohan told the magazine, according to Google Translate. “Probably why I’m still alive.” Well, the zebra boots aren’t that bad, girlfriend. Fashion photographer Steven Meisel has never been one to shy away from melding hot button topics and high-end style shoots. His latest story for Vogue Italy, “Water & Oil,” is no exception. This time around, he shot model Kristen McMenamy covered in oil in a clear homage to the BP oil spill. On the one hand, he dares to shoot models doing something other than skipping down the sidewalk. Vogue Italy Predicts Crazy Hair Color Trends

As far as eye-catching goes, this hair editorial from the May issue of Vogue Italy is that and then some. These knock-off-your-socks hair colors modeled by Sasha Pivovarova, styled by Sam McKnight, and photographed by Emma Summerton include Flame, Lavender, and Pink. Seen here: a hint of bubble gum. We’ve see some of these hair trends out and about already — take, for example, women dyeing their hair gray on purpose, rather than hiding it. Vogue Italia’s “Black Issue” Doesn’t Address The Real Issue

I can’t remember the last time I picked up a lady mag and saw an African-American woman on the cover that wasn’t Halle Berry. The beauty and hair advice doled out in these magazines is targeted at white women unless otherwise noted and the major runway shows are pitifully powder white (Eastern-European is very in). It’s sucky, to say the least. Vogue Italia decided to do something about it, declaring their July issue “The Black Issue” — all of the featured models would be Black and all the featured content would address Black women. This is all fine and dandy on a purely surface level I suppose, except that by making this issue “special” they’ve defined all other, white-centric issues as the usual and the norm. Rather than having more women of color in every issue, targeting a single issue at one ethnic group doesn’t really do anything to increase diversity, now does it? That’s weak.
