“I definitely think he has gay tendencies, not only because of the way he dresses but also because he didn’t want to have sex with a beautiful girl and never really tried with the other girls on the show. Nothing personal, Jake!”
– Paul Rosseau, a contestant from season four of “The Bachelorette,” on Jake Pavelka, the former “Bachelor” who just split from Vienna Girardi. Look, I hate it when people call other people “gay,” and then follow it up with “nothing personal,” as if being gay is a bad thing. As for dressing “gay,” please, the gay dudes we know wouldn’t be caught dead in a mock turtleneck. Anyway, Jake seems more asexual to me, in the Tom Cruise-ian “ambition gives me a boner”-sort of way. [Radar Online] Keep reading »
“One of the keys to acting is you have to get out of your head. ["Drop Dead Diva"] didn’t hire me to be Jake, they hired me to play Toby Davlin. I can’t be Jake and sell this character. I’ve been trying to put all that aside so that I can give this character justice. It’s been a struggle thinking about my relationship and going in front of the camera and shooting. It was a difficult conversation on the phone. But the relationship was headed in that direction.”
—Jake Pavelka explains why he decided to break up with Vienna Girardi on the phone Monday night, after hearing about her flirting with another guy, rather than wait to do it in person. What, is he a method actor now? [People] Keep reading »
The Vienna Girardi and Jake Pavelka he-said-she-said battle has gone from 0 to 60 in the past 24 hours. The couple managed to grace the covers of 3 of 5 major tabloids this week. First Vienna went to Star, who supposedly paid her a whopping $90,000 for her side of the story—that their engagement was a sham, that Jake was cruel, and that he wouldn’t have sex with her—as she was packing her bags to leave him. In retaliation, Jake spoke to People, refuting her claims and saying that the real reason for the breakup was A) her hookup with Gregory Michael of “Greek” and B) her talking to Star behind his back. But what has me the most interested here is that $90K price tag. Is it ethical for tabloids to pay people of note for their breakup stories, especially before the breakup has even happened? This seems to add a whole new dimension to already tenuous Hollywood relationships—that your significant other could be broke and decide to dump you for a big pay day. Keep reading »
“We haven’t been intimate in months now. More than four months. At first his excuse was that he was fasting. The second excuse was that he didn’t feel like it. And the third excuse was that he said that he felt that I wouldn’t understand that he wants to wait until marriage, even though I told him I’d support him. Then the last excuse was that we fight so much that I push him away. I was like, really — which excuse is it? I literally have been living six months with this guy who won’t be intimate with me!”
— Vienna Girardi has already sold her breakup story to Star, and seems to suggest she and Jake never consummated their relationship. I guess we could make this potential reason #11 for the breakup? [via Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Almost as soon as Jake Pavelka stood up from asking Vienna Girardi to marry him on the season finale of “The Bachelor,” one of his exes started saying anonymously that Jake only did the show for fame, that they were in touch during filming, that he was contractually obligated to propose, and that he had called and said he loved her after he returned from filming. Jake Pavelka comes off as pretty much the most genuine guy on the planet. But one woman, who’s keeping her name under wraps, says that he’s a liar, liar, pants on fire. She claims that she and Jake were together when he left to film “The Bachelor.” She says that, while Jake claims his life’s passion is flying planes, he really wants to be an actor and was hoping to forward his career by doing the show. The day after Jake returned from filming, she says he called her and said he still loved her. He also said that the women on the show, including Vienna Girardi, meant nothing to him and that he was forced by the producers to propose. Radar has the first interview with this woman. “When you get down on one knee and propose marriage to someone, I take that very seriously,” she says. “The fact that he did that exclusively because he was instructed to do that, it disappoints me so much.” Keep reading »
