Hundreds Of Strangers Attend Lonely Vet’s Funeral After Obituary Goes Viral

Hundreds Of Strangers Attend Lonely Vet's Funeral After Obituary Goes Viral

Have I got the perfect heartwarming Veteran’s Day story for you! When British World War II vet Harold Jellicoe “Coe” Percival passed away last month at the age of 99, the local newspaper ran an obituary that sadly revealed Percival had no living relatives to attend his funeral. The obit also included a line asking ”any service personnel who can” to attend his Percival’s funeral if they could. Now, how many of us are actually in the habit of reading the obituary page and would have noticed such a call to action? Not I! Michelle Obama Causes HUGE Scandal With Colorful Frock

In the sea of black skirts and gray overcoats at The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, where our prez participated in a Veterans Day memorial, the Mrs. popped in robin’s egg blue. What do you think: fashion hit, major miss or completely ridiculous faux scandal? [Examiner] Keep reading »

Today, NYTimes.com is running a beautifully melancholy op-art piece by Andrea Ventura, which illustrates her grandmother’s childhood memories of WWl in the Italian Alps. That was the Great War, the war that was supposed to end all wars, the one that inspired this country to remember its veterans. Keep reading »

Happy Veterans Day!

AnnaLynne McCord teamed up with Cosmopolitan, Maybelline, and the USO to collect kisses from troops on Veterans Day in Times Square. All I can say is, that poor sailor’s neck! But it is a great reinterpretation of the famous VJ Day photo. [NYC, 11/11/09] Keep reading »
