Can we talk about how freaking awesome Venus Williams is? While most players go for boring old sports tops and tennis skirts, Venus is known for making, uh, more flamboyant ensemble decisions. Cricket player Graeme Swann may have called this one “the worst outfit ever seen on a tennis court,” but I kind of love the bright yellow latticework top and splatter painted skirt she rocked in an Australian Open match yesterday. There’s no denying Venus Williams is a talented tennis player, but it wasn’t her swing that elicited whispers and whistles from the French Open audience over the weekend. Venus caused quite a stir wearing a black and red corset-like mini dress on the court. The lacy getup, which she designed herself, gives the illusion of being sheer. The ruffled skirt flips and bounces with Venus’ every movement, exposing her flesh-colored boy shorts. She said the look was “about illusion,” which is her “motif this year.”

According to Twitter, she explained: “I am wearing undershorts the same color as my skin, so it gives the slits in my dress the full effect!” Uh, full moon effect? Williams Sisters Will Face Off In Wimbledon Final For Fourth Time

Holy Sibling Rivalry. For the fourth time in Wimbledon history, the Williams sisters will be facing each other in the championship tennis match. Venus easily beat out top-seed, Dinara Safina, to make it to the final, while Serena just barely snuck into the top two after a challenging match against Russian, Elena Dementieva. In 2002 and 2003, Serena won Wimbledon over Venus, but last year, Venus took home the title.
