“SNL”‘s Funny Woman Channels Three New Characters

Recognize that pretty face? It’s Kristen Wiig from “Saturday Night Live”! The show’s go-to gal was shot for the latest issue of V Magazine as three super-famous women — Carmen Miranda, Brigitte Bardot, and Frida Kahlo (above). But I gotta ask — where’s Frida’s famous uni-brow? If this were for “SNL,” Kristen would have gone all the way. Check out the other pics, after the jump … [Our Kitchen Sink] Keep reading »

Kiki Does A Cover Good

We think Kirsten Dunst looks way better on the cover of V than she did in that turning Japanese video. Keep reading »

The B-Girl Stages A Comeback In V Magazine

V magazine is throwing it back to the early days of hip-hop/R&B with an editorial in their 64th issue. Models Liya Kebede and Lily Donaldson seem to be channeling rap pioneer Roxanne Shante and singer Lisa Lisa, respectively, with their neon colors, denim-on-denim, and dancer-inspired wear. They even have the essential ’80s accessory — a boombox. Check out two more photos after the jump. [Models.com via Clutch Magazine] Keep reading »

Quotable: Crystal Renn Says The Fashion Industry Is Full Of Outsiders

“I’ve always felt, in some ways, like an outsider. But that is the fashion industry. You know how that is. The creative one at the school, the outsider, the goth or the gay guy — whatever it is, they always get made fun of. I feel like they all got together and moved to New York City and made the fashion industry. And here I am. I feel right at home, very much accepted and very happy.”

— Plus-size model Crystal Renn tells V Magazine, in its “curvy issue,” she now feels at home in the industry she says once drove her to live on Diet Coke and sugar-free Jello-O to stay thin. [via Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Dakota Fanning Is All Grown Up

We’ve already shown you Gabourey Sidibe’s V magazine cover for their “Size Issue,” but she’s not the only young actress who got that coveted spot. Dakota Fanning is on the cover of the other version of the issue, looking oh-so-retro and mature. Keep reading »

Same Outfits, Different Bodies In V Magazine’s Size Issue

V announced last week that its January issue would include plus-size models, and the first photos from it are on Models.com as part of an exclusive preview of what the magazine is calling its “size issue.” In the fashion story “One Size Fits All” shot by photographer Terry Richardson, models Jacquelyn Jablonski and Crystal Renn show off the exact same clothes in similar poses, with only their body sizes being different: Jablonski is a size 2-4 and Renn is a 12. Renaissance Man Tom Ford Takes Gorgeous Photos, Too

Look what I found here! Apparently, the January 2010 issue of V magazine (it’s out January 12th) will feature Tom Ford—but this time, he’s behind the lens. You know how Tom’s been getting all of this Oscar buzz for his directorial debut of “A Single Man,” the movie based on the Christopher Isherwood novel? Plot line: It’s set in 1962 Los Angeles, and it’s the story of a suicidal, gay college professor—ahem, Colin Firth—contemplating his last day on earth in the wake of the sudden death of his longtime lover. Not exactly happy-cheery, but apparently it’s a pretty damn good film. [We posted the amazing-looking trailer here. -- Editor] Anyways, back to the photo hotness—check out Julianne Moore, above and after the jump, we’ve got a seriously dapper (a hot-dapper, that is) Colin Firth, Matthew Goode and Nicolas Hoult… Keep reading »

V Magazine Puts “Coco In Motion”

While Chanel has traditionally been one of those “serious” fashion houses, it seems like the label has been experiencing a playful re-branding thanks to those on the inside (see Karl Lagerfeld’s campy Spring/Summer 2010 runway show) and those on the outside who have taken a more lighthearted approach to the fashions. To wit, this fun stop-motion video of Chanel bags, shoes, jewelry, and clothing dancing around to bubbly French pop music. The project is brought to you by the V magazine team, who shot a very sexy Chanel-clad Natalie Portman for this month’s cover. This clip kind of makes us want to empty our shoe closet and direct our own fashion short. [YouTube] Keep reading »
