What Does Your State Suck At?

We each have our own individual strengths and our weaknesses, and the same could be said about the states that make up our great nation. It turns out that each state has something that they are the absolute worst at in comparison to all the others — here they are, presented in handy infographic form. My own personal weakness happens to be geography, which is why I had to compare this map to an actual map — I couldn’t remember which state was New York. U.S. Ban On People With HIV Could Be Repealed

Did you know that people with HIV who want to visit the U.S. or move to the U.S. from another country basically can’t? For about 20 years, there has been a ban making it really hard for people with the virus to enter the country, even for health conferences. They’ve been able to apply for special hard-to-get wavers for short visits, but they’ve had little chance of obtaining permanent residency. Now, Senators John Kerry and Gordon Smith are trying to repeal the ban, as well as pass legislation that would provide $50 million over the next five years to fight AIDS and other diseases in Africa and poor areas around the world. Basically, people with HIV would be treated the same as those with communicable diseases, and experts would determine eligibility for admission into the United States. [AP] Keep reading »

Stimulus Checks Helping Online Porn Industry

The stimulus checks we’ve all been receiving in the mail have been put to good use, as the Adult Internet Market Research Company (AIMRCo)has discovered that many websites focused on adult or erotic material have been experiencing an upswing in sales during recent weeks. “Many of the sites we surveyed have reported 20 to 30 percent growth in membership rates since mid-May when the checks were first sent out, and typically the summer is a slow period for this market,” said Kirk Mishkin, head research consultant for AIMRCo. According to a survey of members at NSFW website LSGModels.com, 32 percent of respondents said receiving their stimulus check was part of their decision to either become a new member or renew an existing membership.
