Professional models don’t get to choose what they model, but they do have to model through it no matter what. Even if what they’re contracted to wear happens to be a ridiculous tiny hat, say. “America’s Next Top Model” creator and host Tyra Banks knows this, and she frequently chastises her model-testants for not putting their all into their photos. We thought TyTy might have something to say to these tiny hat models, so we phoned her up to get her professional opinions on these tiny hat shots. It’s hard to believe that “America’s Next Top Model” has been around for 16 cycles. If there were 13 girls a season (and I’m pretty sure that many seasons had 14) that makes 208 wannabe models on the show whose names we learned, faces we dissected, and breakdowns we reveled in. So it’s fitting that the next season will be “America’s Next Top Model All-Stars.” In other words, there will be no new perfectly symmetrical faces. The cast will be comprised of the girls you loved and the ones you loved to hate in seasons past, each hoping to win the title and its prizes the second time around.
Slowly, we’re starting to get information on who is joining cast. Unfortunately some of are favorites are not on the list. Jade tweeted, “I declined #ANTM cycle 17 immensely because my contract was completely Bogus and one sided! These girl’s just signed there Rights and Life away!” But we’re still overall pleased. Embarrassingly, the announcement of an “America’s Next Top Model” all-star season is the thing I am most excited about today. I will confess that I have seen every single episode of all 16 cycles (as has Amelia … sorry for outing you). It’s awful, I know. But it is like reality crack to me. The CW has confirmed that Cycle 17 will bring back models from previous seasons to compete again. Jumping up and down. Screaming. Clapping. Why hasn’t Tyra thought of this sooner? Here is my dream team of returning model hopefuls: Elyse Sewell (Cycle 1), Shandi Sullivan (Cycle 2), Toccara Jones (Cycle 3), Tiffany Richardson (Cycle 4 — the girl that Tyra went postal on), Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5 — the drunk), Kim Stolz (Cycle 5), Jade Cole (Cycle 6), Isis King (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Sundai Love (Cycle 13 — just because her name is amazing). Recognize that pretty face from “Mad Men“‘s Sunday night season finale? That’s because she’s Cassandra Whitehead, who appeared on Cycle 5 of “America’s Next Top Model.” Cassandra infamously stormed off the show after Miss Tyra cut her long brown locks into a short ‘do.
