This past Sunday was my 25th birthday. While I don’t think of 25 as old, I definitely think of it as getting older, as I am now closer to 30 than 20.
At this sort of “in-between” moment, I got to thinking about what a difference five years can make.
I’m a completely different person at 25 than I was at 20, and although I’m thankful to have learned from my mistakes, there are a few things I wish I knew then that I know now. Read more … Keep reading »
A couple of months ago, I wrote a list of 21 things I wish I’d known at 21, which over a 100 of you thought enough about to comment on. The thing is, I was pretty naive and there were a lot more than 21 things I didn’t know at that age. So, without further ado, check out 21 more things I wish I’d known at 21, after the jump. MSN recently posted a listicle entitled “31 Things I Wish I’d Known About Dating When I was 21,” which made me think of everything I, too, wish I’d known (about dating and everything else) when I was 21. Instead, I had to learn things the hard way. Save yourself the trouble and just read my list. After the jump, 21 things I wish I’d known when I was 21. Keep reading »
I am not great with money. I think the problem is I don’t love money. Don’t get me wrong, I love material things, but money in and of itself doesn’t really interest me. Maybe the idea of having money isn’t as compelling because as a recent college grad, I don’t have any. Until very recently money didn’t feel real to me: I loved the things it bought me, but the dollars themselves didn’t have much value. When did my attitude towards money evolve? The very second I opened up my first paycheck. During my last semester of college I spent hours upon hours tutoring freshman on the finer points of writing and not using a hangover as a reason to ask for an extension on their term paper. I loved
every almost every minute of explaining the beauty of the semicolon, but I wanted that paycheck. For every minute that I could have been doing something, anything else, I wanted compensation. At eight dollars an hour I was hardly raking it in, but I was so proud of each dollar. Keep reading »
Christine Hassler, self-proclaimed “twentysomething and quarter-life crisis expert,” — the same Christine Hassler who runs an expensive “transformational” workshop she calls ”Chrysalis” — is sharing ten tips over on Huffington Post on surviving your twenties. While her tips are a little bit like telling an alcoholic not to drink or an over-eater to avoid the buffet table, they aren’t completely idiotic. After the jump, I translate her ten tips. Sex comes in waves. For me, it’s either feast or famine. While there seems to be no rhyme or reason for when someone wants to heat my hot pocket up, if memory serves me correctly, I got the most booty back when I was 22. Sigh. That’s the year I was into DJs, rockers, bartenders and pizza guys, aka dudes that are good with their hands and always near alcohol. While I’ve gotten older (and not that much wiser), I’ve never been able to duplicate that sweet year’s record. Boo! But a girl’s gotta have something to look forward to. Fingers crossed that when I’m 46, I’ll get twice as much sexy time as I did when I was 23. And the Daily Mail U.K. is giving me hope, since three out of the five women they surveyed had the best sex after they turned 40. Awesome! What do you think has been your best sex age?
