“Freaky Eaters” Is Back: The Experts Preview New Season, Plus An Exclusive Clip

I always thought I was a picky eater … until I watched “Freaky Eaters.”

The TLC show is back for Season 2 (premieres Sun., June 5, 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. ET), but according to the show’s experts, psychotherapist Dr. Mike Dow and nutrition specialist J.J. Virgin, the difference between Season 1 and 2 is night and day.

Last season, we met freaky eaters addicted to pizza, french fries and Coke. Now, that seems normal compared to this season’s addicts. In the premiere episode, we meet Nikki, a woman obsessed with eating corn starch. Just plain corn starch. Up to 3,300 calories worth of corn starch a day, as a matter of fact. Reality TV Repeat Offenders: Stars The Networks Love, Even If We Don’t

There’s some very promising summer TV coming our way, and then there’s some lazy, regurgitated shlock that makes me groan.

Why? Because some of the networks’ newest reality shows don’t just feature concepts we’ve seen before, but the stars are recycled as well. And we really didn’t even like some of them the first (or second, or third) go-round!

Oprah’s Scientology Ties: Big Show Moments With The Church’s Hollywood Elite

Is Oprah a Scientologist? Just Googling that question returns 127,000 results, so we know we’re not alone in asking.

On the heels of the announcement that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith would be guests on one of Oprah’s final shows, three things popped into my head: 1) random! 2) are they getting a reality series on OWN? and 3) man, she’s shared a lot of big, memorable moments with famous (alleged) Scientologists.

I mean, I’ve been convinced for months now that Oprah’s last show would be a tribute to her loyal viewers. (That’s thanks in large part to mainlining marathons of OWN’s ‘Oprah Behind the Scenes,’ on which Oprah is always saying it’s “for the fans.”) A walk down memory lane, a parting gift, in the spiritual sense, reminding them to pay it forward … not another chat with some fancy Hollywood A-listers! The Cast Of “Sisters” — Where Are They Now?

What were you doing 20 years ago today? Perhaps preparing to watch a new NBC drama called “Sisters”?

It was two decades ago that the Emmy-winning series premiered, earning critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase, while helping to launch the careers of up-and-comers like Ashley Judd and Paul Rudd. The series also earned a certain TV pilot veteran his shot at another TV drama that would send him on the path to big-screen stardom and an Oscar. Keep reading »

TV 101: Some Of TV’s Most Memorable Departures

If I learned anything from Bon Jovi in the ’80s it was that an object’s slipperiness had a direct correlation with that same object’s relative wetness. But more importantly, I learned that we should never say goodbye.

However, following through with such a sentiment — never say goodbye — is much more difficult than scrawling it across your bulging crotch on an 8-by-10 -inch glossy for a hysterical groupie.

The truth is, we have to say goodbye — especially in television — no matter how complicated, emotional or difficult that might be. Some say goodbye too soon, some hang on far too long, and some depart at just the right time. It’s our job to make peace with those goodbyes. Read more… Keep reading »

9 TV Characters Who Deserve More Screen Time

Sometimes, there just isn’t enough time in an episode for all of our favorite characters to get a moment in the sun.

On almost every show there’s an unsung hero, always supporting the main players, only getting thrown a bone every now and then. Depending on the show, some characters are just given the shaft season after season. If we were calling the shots, these characters would come front and center (at least for a multi-episode arc!) and have their moment in the sun.

From characters who deal with the undead to a blue-haired cartoon boy, we want to see more of these characters on screen ASAP. Read more… Keep reading »
