Warning: This post contains spoilers about the most recent episodes of “Game of Thrones.”
Uh oh, y’all. I’m worried. After last week’s gruesome conclusion to “Game of Thrones,” in which Oberyn was defeated by Gregor Clegan in the battle to the death that determined Tyrion Lannister’s eventual fate, I’ve started to get really, really concerned that the Imp might not make it out of this season alive. But would George R. R. Martin really kill off such a vital and beloved character? Of course he would! He’s done it time and time again! But if Evil Bitch Queen Cersei gets her wish and has Tyrion executed for the murder of King Joffrey, I will be wrecked. Wrecked!
Listen, as a semi-professional TV watcher, I’ve endured plenty of TV character deaths without shedding a tear, so this isn’t me being melodramatic. Walter White? Saw his death coming and, in fact, hoped for it. Brody on “Homeland”? Whatever, that tiny mouth annoyed me. Andrea on “The Walking Dead”? Did a jig on her fictional grave! But some TV deaths have hit me harder than others. Dear God, “Game Of Thrones,” please don’t make me add Tyrion Lannister to this list…
Slow your roll, we love sluts here. Ain’t nothing wrong with being a lady or gentleman on the streets and a freak between the sheets. Much like the famous Slut Walk Movement, we’ve taken back the term and completely neutralized it. Yeah, some people have hundreds of sexual partners, they’re sluts, big deal? It doesn’t matter if you’re bedpost has zero notches or 1,000 because it has so little to do with your self worth or quality of character. Of course, it’s women who get called sluts and who are shamed for being a prude or promiscuous and that’s truly terrible, which is why we’ve included a ton of men on this list. If we’re going to redefine the term as just: someone who happens to have slept with a lot of people (“a lot” is so subjective) then we simply must include slutty dudes.
From fictional characters to famous celebs the folks on this list are big fat sluts. We’ve brought you their wise words and life lessons in GIF form. Hey, if you’ve never been a slut then I guess, you’ve got a lot to learn from these folk. Read more on College Candy…
Sometimes good guys are actually “good” guys. They treat people well, they help old ladies across the street, their good intentions are matched by their positive (not necessarily chipper or anything, but at leastnice) personality.
And sometimes good guys are just jerks. Keep reading »
We’ve already discussed how there are too few women writing for TV and movies, and how that makes it challenging to find worthwhile women to watch. Even when there are women on television, they’re often the kind of cloying and annoying characters that make too many compromises, or are possessed with stereotypical flaws that allow them to be palatable to viewers at home (Liz Lemon, I’m looking at you). Or worse, they serve as simply foils or disposable love interests for the show’s male protagonists.
So it’s refreshing when there’s actually a smart, well-written, complex female character on a show. Here are 11 of our favorites (plus an honorable mention). But listen, we can’t watch all the TV (we’ve tried, trust us, we’ve tried). So we’re looking to you to tell us what lady characters don’t make you want to wretch. Tell us in the comments.
Sometimes, there just isn’t enough time in an episode for all of our favorite characters to get a moment in the sun.
On almost every show there’s an unsung hero, always supporting the main players, only getting thrown a bone every now and then. Depending on the show, some characters are just given the shaft season after season. If we were calling the shots, these characters would come front and center (at least for a multi-episode arc!) and have their moment in the sun.
From characters who deal with the undead to a blue-haired cartoon boy, we want to see more of these characters on screen ASAP. Read more… Keep reading »
