Polka dot jeans have been popping up on all my favorite fashion blogs and stylish ladies I see on the street, and it’s causing me to have some pretty major polka dot jeans envy. I have a big move coming up, so I’m trying not to buy too many new clothes. What’s a trend-obsessed girl to do? Add polka dots to a pair of jeans I already own, obviously! I’m going to try this super easy DIY on a pair of denim cutoffs this weekend and think spring-y thoughts. Care to join me? [A Merry Mishap]

Naomi Watts looked like a picture of preppy perfection while running errands in Beverly Hills the other day in a polka dot blouse, sweater vest, and loafers. Want to steal her style for yourself? We’ve got all the pieces (for 70 bucks or less!) after the jump… Keep reading »
I’ve been looking for a chunky, menswear-inspired watch for awhile now, and this one, with a black tuxedo stripe and ring of rhinestones, might be The One. I’ll wear it with a slouchy black V-neck sweater and jeans, and be fashionably on time everywhere I go. [$22, Nordstrom]
On this week’s episode of “Nashville,” Juliette Barnes wore an amazing metallic rose print blouse that I immediately used my TV wardrobe-stalking skills to track down, only to find it costs $250, which is, you know, about $150 more than I’d ever spend on a blouse. I didn’t mourn for too long though, because I found a bunch more rose print pieces I actually can afford, and they’re just as cute. Click through for rose print dresses, bags, blouses, sneakers, and more!
Anyone who has ever dabbled in granola pursuits can attest to the comfort of Birkenstocks. Yes, they are a pleasure to wear, but what they are not is stylish. It shouldn’t even be a question: unless you align yourself with a crunchier crowd (and there’s nothing wrong with that), Birkenstocks have no place on your feet. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Birkenstocks have no place in fashion … but if Phoebe Philo says otherwise, it’s probably in my best interest to step back. The Céline designer, beloved for her airy, streamlined silhouettes (and to-die-for handbags), designed a Birkenstock-esque flat sandal with a decidedly un-hippie mink lining, priced at €700 (close to $1,000). That’s a lot of cash for a glorified Jesus shoe.
But in a true testament to high fashion’s ripple effect, the latest issue of British Vogue features a pair of classic white Birks, and the same shoe was spotted on the runway of menswear duo Agi & Sam at London Fashion Week. Will we be seeing a resurgence of this particular footwear previously favored by the hackysack set? It’s possible, but I just can’t imagine society tastemakers like Anna Wintour giving them the sign-off. I do, however, peg Kanye West as the next to sport the shoe. Just you watch. [Guardian]
I was feeling really emo over the weekend, so I bought some dark OPI nail polish that I thought would channel the cold darkness of my heart, but when I put it on it turned out to be the PRETTIEST medium brown with mauve undertones, and I was like, “Aww that’s so cute!” Conclusions: I suck at being goth, and brown nail polish is the bomb. Wear these chocolate-y shades now before the warm weather of spring has you reaching for brighter colors. Shopping details after the jump! Keep reading »
