Shopping Guide: 9 Cool Cropped Trenches

Among your cadre of summer-to-fall jacket options, consider the cropped trench. It’s cute, versatile and can be worn as both outerwear and — if you’re feeling particularly daring — as a blazer. We saw a girl wearing one today and were particularly covetous of the easy way the blazer fell over her long T-shirt and seemed to flop just perfectly over her clavicle. We’ve assembled 10 options for your perusal. Let us know what you think!

And The Prize Goes To … The Most Ridiculous (Imagined!) Fashion Hybrid Item

Earlier this week, we asked you to tell us the most ridiculous fashion hybrid item you could imagine, along the lines of jeggings, jorts, shooties, and my contribution to the fashion lexicon, bradigan. The most original and hilarious suggestion would win Gap’s Soft Trench, part of the brand’s spring collection. We’ve picked a winner — read her winning comment after the jump — but the rest of you can still grab a Soft Trench of your own at a steep discount during tomorrow’s Gap Flashion sale. The Soft Trench — normally priced at $89.95 — will be available in stores for a mere $50 tomorrow only. I’m not passing that up! Keep reading »

Burberry’s Special Edition Rain-Themed Collection—Redundant?

Burberry just launched a small, limited-edition collection based on the theme of rain (April showers, more specifically). The range includes Haymarket checked rain boots, printed umbrellas, trench coats, and a whole mess of small accessories. We have to laugh for a second because if this special line is rain-themed, then what was everything else Burberry produced before it? Just OK weather trenches? Sun-brellas? Swamp-wading boots? Because those all seem like items we’d love to use … in the rain. Just sayin’. [L.A. Times] Keep reading »

A High-End Trench With A Moderate Price Tag

Our dream: waltzing through April and May in the perfect Burberry trench coat. Reality: yeah, right. As an alternative, check out this tan oversized trench, which comes at a fraction of the price but still brings a high-end aesthetic. Plus, we’re into the idea of making this spring jacket less fitted and girly, and taking a more boyish approach with a roomy fit, and a bloused look when belted.

Sliding Scale: Espadrille Wedges, Floral Tops, & Trench Coats

Three big trends for spring to fit every budget!

ESPADRILLE WEDGES
We’re stoked that espadrilles are making a big comeback this season because they’re the ultimate multi-purpose shoe. They’re the sort of dress-up/dress-down accessory that works particularly well with jeans and simple dresses. We’re loving the candy-colored varieties that are popping up all over stores, that add an extra zing to your spring.

Fashion Slideshow: Trench Coats

As Tim Gunn would say on his “Guide To Stye”, a trench coats is one of the 10 essential items every woman needs in her closet. Personally, I think a trench coast IS the perfect coat because you can dress it up and dress it down and it’s always totally timeless and classic. Think about it — Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn were wearing the same kind of trenches you can buy now back in their hey day. Anyhoo, after the jump, some classic and not-so-classic trenches that belong in your closet. Keep reading »

Style On The Street: Three’s Company

Isn’t the girl on the left intense? Especially her dress’s neckline. The girl in the middle knows what’s going on. Red trenches are one of the 10 best articles of clothing ever created. And on the right, the whole striped-shirt peaking out of jacket-sleeves thing is a nice touch. [Trender Bender] Keep reading »

Style On The Street: Rainy Day Chic

Spring is a lovely season, except when it rains — a regular occurrence. Our friends at Trender Bender alerted us to this lovely lady, who knows that wearing pants on a wet day means you’ll end up wearing wet pants. Platforms, however, keep you above the puddles. [Trender Bender] Keep reading »
