Do you love James Franco enough to wear a tote bag with his visage on the front? Enough to profess your love in type on said tote bag? Enough to withstand the jeers and sneers of passerby who think you’re kinda weird for loving the stoner guy from “Pineapple Express”? Well in that case, by all means, sister, enjoy your quality time with James.

A canvas bag should be relatively un-fussy compared to its leather brethren. This tote bag from the Quality Mending Co., a vintage source in NYC, doesn’t need any bells, whistles, or spangles to show its chic side. Saddle-colored leather trim embellishes this tote just enough so it’s both functional and fabulous. You’ll want to coordinate your outfit with it.
It’s not too often that we see a diaper tote for moms and think, “Hey, this would make a really great laptop bag.” (Once you get the thought of diapers in there it kind of sticks, you know?) We are surprisingly taken, however, with Gap’s Mia Bossi messenger bag, which is intended for carrying baby naps, but is also the perfect size and fit for a laptop. The graphic print reminds us of a classy French Goyard bag—without the super hefty price tag!
There are certain clichéd things women can do to tell the world, “I’m single and ready to mingle.” Most involve drastic hair changes and boob-spillage dresses. Of course, there’s also the classic Facebook relationship status change, which can often draw more attention than anything else. A decent middle ground? Anya Hindmarch‘s cute tactic: wear the designer’s everyday tote emblazoned on one side with the word “Available.” Of course, the other side reads “Unavailable” should things in your love life change. Otherwise, you could just cover up your boobs and call it a day. [Net-A-Porter.com] Keep reading »
They say if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. But in the case of becoming a fabulous Chanel-clad lady, that’s not exactly an option, considering our tax brackets. So, if you can’t get the real thing, we say: mock it. That’s why we’re loving this kind of genius tote bag from Forever 21, which features a Chanel-inspired purse drawing on the front. Plus, it’s eco-friendly and dirt cheap!
We all want to be good to Mother Earth, but figuring out how to help without rearranging your whole life can be tricky. So here’s our advice for becoming a little more green: Fold up a tote bag, and keep it in your purse at all times. Instead of letting cashiers put your purchases in a paper or plastic bag, take out your handy-dandy tote. No matter what you’re buying, whether it’s a new skirt or your weekly groceries, you don’t need another disposable bag to throw out (or, hopefully, recycle) once you get home. Just don’t forget to put your tote back in your handbag so you’ll always be prepared for your next purchase.
WIN THIS! We’re giving away five cotton tote bags to help you get your green on, but you have to work if you want one. In the comments, tell us your best advice for living more eco-friendly by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 29. We’ll pick our favorite responses and announce the winners on Friday, April 30. You must live in the U.S. or Canada to win. Good luck!
