Tom Ford, former Gucci designer, raging narcissist and surprisingly awesome director of “A Single Man,” has confirmed that he’ll be making another movie. We were skeptical when we heard last year that Ford was directing at all, but his debut film was actually pretty great, so we’re excited to see what he’s got for us this time. Ford’s staying tight-lipped about the project for now, but we’re sure it’ll be at least as visually stunning as “A Single Man” was and can’t wait for the release! [Elle UK] Keep reading »

Look what I found here! Apparently, the January 2010 issue of V magazine (it’s out January 12th) will feature Tom Ford—but this time, he’s behind the lens. You know how Tom’s been getting all of this Oscar buzz for his directorial debut of “A Single Man,” the movie based on the Christopher Isherwood novel? Plot line: It’s set in 1962 Los Angeles, and it’s the story of a suicidal, gay college professor—ahem, Colin Firth—contemplating his last day on earth in the wake of the sudden death of his longtime lover. Not exactly happy-cheery, but apparently it’s a pretty damn good film. [We posted the amazing-looking trailer here. -- Editor] Anyways, back to the photo hotness—check out Julianne Moore, above and after the jump, we’ve got a seriously dapper (a hot-dapper, that is) Colin Firth, Matthew Goode and Nicolas Hoult… Keep reading »
Most think of Gucci and see interlocking G’s, horsebit hobo bags, or that red and green stripe. But there’s an entire sordid past of the Gucci family, which Tom Ford and Frida Giannini have nothing to do with – and it’s not about design. In 1995, the heir to the Gucci throne, Maurizio Gucci, had his life cut short when he was brutally shot. Behind the murder? Apparently, his wife Patrizia Reggiani set the plot for his early death. While she faced 29 years in prison, the hired assassin earned a life sentence for the murder and Patrizia’s psychic, who contacted the killer, was sent to jail for 25 years.
Sounds like a movie, no? Well, Fox 2000 thinks so, and Angelina Jolie has been approached to play the distressed wife. As for Maurizio? Leonardo DiCaprio is the first choice, but we’ll have to wait to see if that works out. Either way, a Gucci drama will be a welcome addition to the influx of fashion films on movie billboards these days. [Variety]

You may or may not remember that American designer Tom Ford took some time away from his busy fashion and beauty career to make a film. And while some people were critical of this move, having met and chatted the night away with Ford a couple of years ago, I was struck by how incredibly intelligent, creative, passionate and just downright cool he was. Basically, I’ve totally had his back on this the whole time. (Like he cares, but anyway.) So that very film premiered this weekend in Venice and the reviews are stellar! Julianne Moore is fantastic (no surprise there) and there are already Best Actor rumors swirling around male star, Colin Firth. Also to be expected, Ford brings style to the table with a moody palette, gorgeous costumes and a beautiful soundtrack. Can’t wait to see the whole thing! Keep reading »
Style icon Tom Ford gives the latest issue of Details his personal rules of style. As the man best known for resurrecting the Gucci brand and bringing back glam and whose latest turn is as a Hollywood movie director, Ford knows a thing or two about cultivating personal style. While he gears this set of tips towards the fashionably-minded male population, many of his suggestions would be well-heeded by fashionistas, as well: being a good listener is sexy, dress yourself intuitively, and Botox can be a blessing. Of course, it wouldn’t be Ford if he didn’t offer up something totally outrageous. In his final tip on the list, he advises: “There’s one indulgence every man should try in his lifetime: If you’re straight, sleep with a man at least once, and if you’re gay, don’t go through life without sleeping with a woman.” He adds: “In the end, it’s just another person that you are relating to in a physical way.” Oh, Tom. You’ll always be our number one HILF. So do you think Tom’s last tip should apply to women, too? Should a straight women sleep with a woman at least once in her lifetime, and should a lesbian sleep with a man at least once in her lifetime? [The Cut] Keep reading »
The Frisky is chock full of fag hags who understand boys will be boys, and in some cases, those boys will be gay. But even if these guys love to love men, we just can’t stop wanting to love them. So in honor of all the gorgeous gay gents who love to tease us, here are The Frisky’s Top Five HILF’s (Homosexuals We’d Like To F–k).
5. Neil Patrick Harris: Le geek c’est chic! The former child star of Doogie Houser, MD is all grown up and gay. NPH has buffed up and achieved cult status as the recurring hero in the buddy movie series, Harold and Kumar. Mmm, wouldn’t you like to get piled up in a Monday Menage with those three guys?
Yesterday was Tom Ford’s birthday, you know the American fashion designer that successfully revamped Gucci? To celebrate, we put together a few iconic Gucci looks, but since we can’t afford the real thing, these picks are just as chic and a lot less expensive. Remember when Madonna wore the first outfit to the MTV Video Music Awards in 1995? Or Gwyneth Paltrow at the 1996 VMAs? And since Ford is no longer with Gucci we recreated a look from his last collection, Fall 2004. Keep reading »
Fashion designer Tom Ford knows this season’s hottest accessory is the baby bump and he wants to make one for his 2008 Collection. The dapper American legend raised Gucci, YSL, and his own house, but now he wants a kid….and what a stylish looker his baby will be! Although Ford’s been with his partner, Richard Buckley, former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Hommes International, foreva-eva, Ford admits he slept with women until he finally realized he was too hot to not be a homo. So now, for the first time in about thirty years, one lucky lady will get to be his sperm receptacle/baby mama! And the fringe benefits sound even better.
