Hayden Panettiere’s Off-The-Rack Dress Scandal! Plus, Are Johnny Depp & Amber Heard Engaged?

  • Scandal! Hayden Panettiere gushed about wearing Tom Ford to Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, but failed to mention on the red carpet that she bought the dress off the rack (!!!). The only person who Ford actually dressed was Naomi Watts. Panettiere was scolded by some snotty fashion person on Twitter for not being clear on how she got her dress, but Tom Ford was gracious about the whole stupid debacle, sending Panettiere a nice note and a bouquet of roses. Personally, I think it’s awesome that Hayden saw a dress she loved, bought it and wore it for the big night, instead of borrowing gowns like everyone else. And she looked great! [Celebuzz]

Forget the drawer, clear out space in your makeup bag if your man is moving in. According to a recent survey of a thousand millennial-age men, guys have officially become more comfortable adopting the grooming habits of women. As many as 60 percent of men now use women’s skincare products, with 14 percent okaying nail polish, 18 percent foundation, and 12 percent eyeliner.

We’re not sure whether to thank Jared Leto, or Captain Jack Sparrow for this change of heart.

London Fashion Week Fall 2013 Ready-To-Wear: Days 1-5

Spanning just five days, London Fashion Week is the shortest of the ready-to-wear fashion weeks. It’s also in many ways the most entertaining: the attendees, the street style, and most of all, the clothes on the runway are consistently lighter-hearted than New York and Milan’s more austere ambiance. Just take legendary designer Tom Ford, for example, who unveiled his first ever London catwalk show with a collection more vividly multi-ethnic than the pure streamlined elegance he’s known for. London Fashion Week has come and gone, so we’ve pulled five of our favorite shows from the five days — let’s take a look at Marios Schwab, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Burberry Prorsum, Roksanda Ilincic, and one veeeeery un-Tom Ford Tom Ford collection … Keep reading »

  • Supermodel and Guess girl Claudia Schiffer revealed that Hermès wished to name a signature handbag after her when she was 22… and she turned them down at her agent’s insistence. Regrets, I’ve had a few… [Telegraph]
  • It is entirely possible that Michelle Obama will appear on the cover of Vogue in the coming months — The Washingtonian reported that a team from the mag was spotted “moving cameras into the residence” (i.e. the White House) for a shoot with Annie Leibovitz. [The Cut]
  • Good news for the crusade against animal testing for cosmetics (in the European Union, at least): a ban preventing the import and sale of any animal-tested products or ingredients will go into effect March 11. Your move, America. [WWD]
  • If you don’t think your baby smells enough like a baby already, Dolce & Gabbana is launching a new (totally safe, alcohol-free) perfume intended to enhance the natural smell of newborns. The fragrance, inspired by “the softness of baby skin, the freshness of baby breath, a mother’s sweet hug, [and] the first smile” will contain notes of citrus, honey, and melon. Now I’m hungry. Not for babies. [BuzzFeed]

“This sounds negative, but when you’re considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, it’s very, very hard when that starts to slip away. It’s hard to feel good about yourself when people react to you differently. And, Gisele, I hope you’re not reading this, because it’s going to sound so negative but I know through some of my best friends who are really famous actresses — I’m not going to mention their names — who were at one point considered to be among the most beautiful women in the world at different periods of time, and how hard it is for them emotionally. So I hope Gisele is prepared for that, because it’s so difficult.”

— Acclaimed designer Tom Ford expressed his concern regarding Gisele Bundchen’s future while interviewing her husband Tom Brady for the fall issue of VMAN. Keep reading »

Lipstick 101: How To Find The Perfect Bold Lipstick

Figuring out how to wear a bold lip can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not used to wearing lipstick. (Or if you’re basically used to ignoring the fact that you have lips on your face altogether.) The wrong shade can wash you out, or make you look lizard-y. And when you’re wearing a bright, bold lip color you just can’t help but feel so out there in the open.

So that’s why we teamed up with esteemed makeup artist Susana to get a quick lesson on Lipstick 101. What we learned: you don’t have to fear a bold lip. Bright lipsticks can be fun, dramatic and totally sexy!

“If I could put [Marc Jacobs], and oh my God, let me think for a second. Tom Ford. That’s a fit. Is Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs a fit? ‘Cause they both have those muscles and ripped bodies. And they both look straight. I’d date ‘em. They’re both gorgeous. And I didn’t mean that as a generalization, and don’t you gay people get all snippy with me. I meant that as a compliment!”

–Sad circus clown Patti Stanger is totally that annoying friend that assumes that all gay people she knows are attracted to each other. Here she is running her mouth at the Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show trying to set up Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford, because you know, they’re both in fashion, and gay, so obviously they should date. GAH. [NYMag]

An Open Letter To Tom Ford

Oh, Tom Ford, where will you draw the line? As a fashion editor and writer, I’ve been behind you since the days of Gucci, YSL and certainly your namesake collections. And as a designer-turned-director, you have an amazing talent for understanding what we want to see, what the next big thing is and, ultimately, what will titillate us.

But it is your judgment as a guest editor that leaves us scratching our heads. Read more Keep reading »

Video Of Tom Ford’s Spring 2011 Fashion Show

The presentation of Tom Ford’s spring/summer 2011 collection was the most buzzed about fashion show during New York Fashion Week. It was a star-studded affair, but was also extremely exclusive. Only one photographer was allowed to snap photos during the show, so only the fashion elite has seen the glamorous fashions until now. See Beyonce, Chanel Iman, Carolyn Murphy, Lauren Hutton, and several other A-listers strut their stuff in a video of the show. Keep reading »

Tom Ford Wants You Naked

“You know, most people actually look better nude. We are all one harmonious colour, with a symmetry and an innate elegance. Fat women almost always look better without the constraint and lumpy pinching of clothes, all the straps and elastic squeezing and sucking.”

– Fashion designer Tom Ford confesses he spends lots of time at home naked as a jaybird. We’re not so sure how to take his plus-sized comments. Care to parse? [Contact Music] Keep reading »
