“Rock of Ages,” the Broadway musical that feels sort of like a karaoke night filled with ’80s rock ballads, is headed for the big screen. Some insanely huge names are attached to the fledgling movie: Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Alec Baldwin, and Mary J. Blige are all rumored to be in talks for roles. When I first read this news, I was concerned that they’d make Tom and Gwyneth the leads, which wouldn’t make any sense because the story is about two fresh-out-of-school kids who move to L.A. to become rock stars and end up working in a seedy bar. But, phew, they are being talked to about supporting roles.

If Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s reality TV show was called “Chaotic,” perhaps Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ could be called “Tightly In Control”? The word on the street is that Tom is considering doing a “short documentary series,” letting peeps into his and Katie’s personal life. A source tells Grazia Magazine, “He’s been filming Katie and other aspects of his life for the past month. The original impetus was that he would select a few personal clips to show fans, but word has got out through his agents and he is currently fielding offers from entertainment companies.” Of course, if this happens, do not expect any moments of Katie burping while obviously high, a la Brit-Brit. “Tom places a premium on control, so he’s reluctant to commit to doing a reality TV show unless he’s 100 percent certain it will reflect him and Katie in the best light possible,” the source continues. 5 Things We Would Like To See In The “Top Gun” Sequel

We’re approaching July 4th, and that means celebrating our country via lots of drinking, eating, and pyrotechnics. Here’s some news that could add an extra dash of excitement to your Independence Day—there is talk of Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer working together to make a “Top Gun” sequel. There are few movies that get more A-mur-rican than “TG,” what with the arena rock, fast planes, machismo and vague wars. In a recent interview, Bruckheimer said that ideas for the project have been “kicked around” but that they are having trouble figuring out a way to: a) incorporate today’s technology and b) work Cruise’s character Maverick as an older dude into a story that still has the same kick-butt cheesy vibe as the original.
