World Toilet-Paper Folding Record Broken By High School Students!

This is no Halloween prank: Massachusetts teens have officially broken the world toilet-paper-folding record. Students from the St. Mark’s School in Southborough completed 13 folds and 8,192 layers, beating a previous high school student’s record of 12 folds in 2002. The class was guided by their mathematics teacher James Tanton, who has waited seven years for a class to finally break the record.

The question is, how did they do it? According to BostInno.com, the students taped 64 layers of toilet paper the into a a sixth fold. They then mimicked those layers and folded the stack. The end result was 8,192 layers thick, 1.5 meters wide and 76 centimeters high. Read more…

I Knew I Wasn’t Crazy; There Is A Preferred Toilet Paper Orientation

As we discussed a couple of weeks ago, toilet paper is amongst the top 10 argument triggers for couples. It sounds petty, but a roll of toilet paper facing the wrong direction is a personal call to arms for me. I did a little research and as it turns out, I am not just a neurotic psycho. There is a preferred way to put toilet paper on the roll … MY WAY! Sixty to 70 percent of American consumers surveyed prefer their roll “over.” People who like their roll “under” were found to have a scientific correlation with ownership of a recreational vehicle or a cat. Very random, but it makes perfect sense. I would never be caught dead owning one of the aforementioned. And I would certainly never be caught orienting my toilet paper “under.” How about you? Are you an “over” or an “under”? [Wikipedia] Keep reading »

“Extreme Couponing” Thinks It’s Genius To Hoard Toilet Paper

Remember the woman who eats toilet paper from our new favorite show “My Strange Addiction”? Well, guess what? I have totally found her new best friend! Above, meet Amanda, who appeared on a recent episode of TLC’s “Extreme Couponing.” She has an entire room in her house filled with rolls of toiler paper. But instead of shaming Amanda for what is essentially hoarding the stuff we wipe our asses with, this show seems to be, well, celebrating her obsessive frugality. So cool, uh, indeed. Glow In The Dark Toilet Paper: Convenient, Funny, Or Risky?

Going to the bathroom during a power outage or while you’re suffering from a major hangover just got a lot easier. You no longer need light to locate the toilet paper roll. Glow in the dark toilet paper shines like a beacon of good hygiene, but one question still remains: Is it really safe to have this tissue close to your bum? I’ve noticed colored toilet paper has become a thing of the past, and I always thought it was because dyes are unhealthy. However, one thing is for sure, glow in the dark toilet paper will be good for laughs –$8 laughs. A glowing trail of tissue on someone’s shoe would be that much funnier than a trail of regular white TP. [thumbs Up! via Impact Lab] Keep reading »

Stunning Toilet Paper Wedding Dress

Thankfully, the final weeks of my engagement have been pleasantly devoid of bachelorette parties with plastic penis products or bridal showers with cheesy games, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a beautiful toilet paper wedding dress when I see one. Don’t think a toilet paper wedding dress can be beautiful? You obviously haven’t seen the winners of Cheap Chic Weddings toilet-paper wedding dress contest. Ann Kagawa Lee of Honolulu took the grand prize for her couture-like creation (compared by some to an Oscar de la Renta gown) made from nothing more than toilet paper, tape, and glue. Her theme was “Gone With the Wind” and Japanese origami, and it shows. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is astounding — even more impressive than the coffee filter prom dress we saw last month. After the jump, check out a close-up of the hat she made to go with the dress. [via The Cut]

Hopefully, Her Marriage Won’t End Up In The Crapper Like Her Dress

Choosing a wedding dress is something a lot of women obsess about because they want their day to be the most memorable of their whole lives, or whatever. But when someone offers to pay for the wedding and honeymoon, the dress becomes less important…for some people. Take Jennifer Cannon. She donned a dress made from Charmin Ultra Soft and Ultra Strong when she took her vows in a Charmin-sponsored wedding. That took place in a public restroom. In Times Square. Considering the materials that were used, the dress is actually pretty amazing. Not to mention soft on the tush! [Dlisted] Keep reading »
