The former guardians of Ma’lik Richmond, a teen football player who is facing sexual assault charges for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at a high school party this summer, came to his defense on “The Today Show” this morning.
In August, members of the Steubenville High School football in Ohio team sexually abused an unconscious drunk girl, carrying her to multiple parties where she was raped and peed upon. The victim was also photographed while being violated and carried around the party and images were posted on Twitter and other social media sites. Two football players from the team, Richmond and another student, Trenton Mays, were arrested and charged with rape and kidnapping, although many other students were at the party and witnessed the assault. According to a study done by “The Today Show” and Match.com, one in three single people would give up sex for a year before they would forgo their favorite food. OK, I can kind of understand that. Salted dark chocolate! But here’s the really depressing part. While many of the 4,000 singles polled mentioned steak or chocolate (I concur) as a foods worth sacrificing sex for, there were a slew of sad ass singles who said they would give up sex for SALAD. SALAD. I said SALAD. Unacceptable. Salad is great and all. It’s healthy and satisfying and I eat it almost every day for lunch. But even the most delicious salad in the history of the world does not trump humping. I conducted my own informal poll of ladies here at The Frisky office. After the jump, the things we would actually choose over a year of sex. Hint: NOT SALAD. Keep reading »
This morning, we met Mugly the Chinese Crested, the pooch who won the World’s Ugliest Dog contest for the second time in his ugly life. And somehow, some way, Kathie Lee Gifford managed to make a conversation about Mugly into a conversation about Kathie Lee, specifically how one day she expects “things” to grow out of her face. Yum.
Two things make Kathie Lee Gifford very upset: cannibalism and everyone dropping their bras and pants. I was not aware that bra-dropping is sweeping the nation, even during the heatwave, but I’ll grant KLG that Alec Baldwin dropping his drawers on “Letterman” last night was weird. Really weird. Yeah, it changed the subject from Smacking The Paparazzi-gate. But come on. It was hairy old man legs TMI.
Once upon a time, the highest paid actor or actress in Hollywood was someone who had a bit more gravitas than “Twilight.” But Kristen Stewart has topped Forbes magazine’s list of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, cashing in with $34.5 million in the past year.
This doesn’t sit well with Kathie Lee Gifford, who just doesn’t understand why the Kristen won’t smile. Join the club, KLG. And she even goes so far as to offer smiling lessons, although I think we can agree Tyra does it better. Now, what’s this about K-Stew’s “back end”?
At 79 years old, Joan Rivers has finally decided to embrace her natural beauty. This video is most definitely NSFW, due to a reference to Betty White’s poop. Keepin’ it classy, Joan.
Charla Nash, the woman who was viciously attacked by a friend’s chimpanzee, gave her first interview on “The Today Show” since receiving a face transplant. Because Charla is blind, she can’t see her new visage, but tells Meredith Viera, “I’ve had people tell me I’m beautiful and nobody ever told me I was beautiful before.” OK, that got me. Pass the Kleenex. Most moving is the fact that Charla doesn’t display an ounce of self-pity; she’s too busy indulging in her favorite comfort foods at IHOP and encouraging legislation to prohibit keeping wild animals as pets. Such an inspiration. [Buzzfeed]
Elle editor-in-chief Robbie Myers went on “Today” this morning to talk about body types and how curvier models are getting more attention in the fashion industry these days, with more womanly figures walking the runways at Louis Vuitton, Prada, and more. She said, however, that women reading magazines or watching movies don’t want to see bodies like their own in the media; while we don’t want to see anorexic models, we “respond more to women who are a little bit above average. … Seeing someone who looks like [the average woman] doesn’t actually send her out and make her want to go shopping.” We’re gonna guess that Elle won’t be jumping on the plus-size model bandwagon anytime soon.
