Today In Terribleness: Man Accused Of Killing Ex-Girlfriend's Dog And Feeding It To Her

As a human being, this news story repulses me. As a dog owner who thinks of Lucca as my child, it sends a murderous rage pump through my veins. Police say Ryan Eddy Watenpaugh, 34, of Palo Cedro, California, killed his ex-girlfriend’s dog and fed it to her, the last disgusting act in a string of abusive and stalking behavior. I’m just gonna copy and paste The Sacramento Bee‘s summation of the crime because I cannot handle typing it in my own words: Keep reading »

Today In Terribleness: Kids, Dad Gang Up To Sue Mom For “Bad Mothering”

Michael Lohan ain’t got nothing on Kimberly Garrity in the bad parenting department. The many grave and terrifying abuses inflicted upon her children include a sending a birthday card without money inside, failing to send care packages to her son at college, and calling her daughter at midnight on Homecoming to tell her to come home. She even forced one of her kids to wear a seat belt.

Clearly you can understand why her two children, Steven, 23, and Kathryn, 20, sued Garrity for $50,000 citing “bad mothering.” Keep reading »

Today In Terribleness: A Woman Is Framed For Armed Robbery By Her Ex

Meet Seemona Sumasar. She is 36 years old, a mother, and a former Morgan Stanley analyst who managed a restaurant in Queens. One night about two years ago, her Jeep was pulled over by police. She was shocked to be arrested. “You know you did it. Just admit it,” a police officer threatened her.

“It” was a string of armed robberies. Specifically, ones where a woman approached victims wearing a policewoman’s uniform and then turned her gun on them. Only Sumasar hadn’t done “it.” “It” had never actually happened. Keep reading »

Today In Terribleness: Woman Attempts To Sell Baby At Taco Bell

A woman in Washington was arrested for allegedly making a run to the border with her three-day-old son. Officials responded when they received a 911 call reporting that 36-year-old Heidi-Lynn Knowles had approached a patron at the local Taco Bell and tried to sell her a baby for $500. The woman and her infant were located by cops at a local motel, where the child was immediately taken into custody. I know Taco Bell has a value menu and all, but whether it was birther’s remorse or a desire for drug money, Knowles should have been asking way more for her baby burrito. In all seriousness, WHAT? Let’s hope this sweet baby is placed in a loving home soon. [Seattle Times] Keep reading »

Texas Rangers Fan Falls To His Death Trying To Catch Baseball Thrown By Josh Hamilton

Ugh, this is such an awful story. A 39-year-old father took his son to a Texas Rangers baseball game in Arlington, TX, last night, and when outfielder Josh Hamilton (left) tossed him a foul ball, he fell 20 feet to his death trying to catch it. A man sitting near Shannon Stone tried to grab him by the leg as he fell over the railing, but wasn’t able to keep ahold of him. “He went straight down,” Ronnie Hargis said. “I tried to grab him, but I couldn’t. I tried to slow him down a little bit.” Keep reading »

Today In Terribleness: Death By Neck Massage?

Electronic neck massagers are the perfect way to end a long day of holiday shopping and gift wrapping, right? Uh, maybe not. A 37-year-old Florida woman, Michelle Ferrari-Gegerson, was found dead on her bedroom floor on Christmas Eve after her electronic massager wrapped around her necklace and strangled her to death. Authorities are not yet giving information about the make and model of the massager, but we should be expecting a recall any day now. I’m still not sure I understand how exactly that happened, but consider me terrified enough never to use an electronic neck massager ever again just in case it should decide to strangle me while I’m relaxing. Good lord, that’s an awful thought. [Palm Beach Post] Keep reading »
