Tim Gunn Dishes On The New “Project Runway” Designers

Project Runway Returns On Lifetime

We were extremely bummed to learn “Project Runway” was “moving to Lifetime from Bravo. Our depression grew when we realized Bravo’s “The Fashion Show” is no “Runway” substitute—Kelly Rowland and Isaac Mizrahi have nothing on Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn! Well, season six of “Runway” is set to premiere on Aug. 20, and we’ll be watching, despite the network move. Tim spoke to People.com about his take on the new designers, piquing our interest in the show once again.

Since “The Fashion Show” Sucks, Play The “Project Runway Game” Instead

Project Runway

I can’t possibly force myself to sit through another episode of “The Fashion Show.” I cannot take another hour of Kelly Rowland contorting her face into bizarre sneers. If I hear Isaac Mizrahi say “bye bye, darling,” one more time, I will snap. Because I value my sanity, or whatever is left of it since the show began, I am not going to watch “The Fashion Show”. I confess, I say this every week and then cave, but this week is going to be different. Last week I had the foresight to ask some friends to watch the show with me. After only five minutes, my friend staged an intervention and turned the show off. Good. So how will I spend my Thursday nights now? Instead of wallowing in my grief over the lack of Tim Gunn in my life, at 10:00pm tonight I am going to play"The Project Runway Game.”

Which Celebs Should Asexuals Look Up To?

Morrissey, Tim Gunn and Karl Lagerfeld

It’s like a word association game. Say the word “asexual” and the first thing people say is Clay Aiken. Poor Clay got stuck as the poster boy for asexuality when he told New York magazine that he had no libido.

“I just don’t have an interest in … any of that at all. I have got too much on my plate. I’d rather focus on one thing and do that when I can devote time to it, and right now, I just don’t have any desire. I think maybe I don’t [have sexual urges]! I mean, not really. I’ve just kind of shut it off, maybe. Is that bad?”

Now we know Clay is actually a gay man and the only thing he had “shut off” were his homosexual desires.

But with such confusing messages about asexuality, is it any wonder that “Awkward,” a 19-year-old woman who wrote to Professor Foxy, Feministing’s sex advice expert, was really confused by her complete lack of a libido? “Awkward” thinks she is asexual, but wondered how do you actually know?

Tim Gunn Loves Libraries, We Love Tim Gunn

The ever-adorable Tim Gunn has given us one more reason to love him: a public service video in support of the New York Public Library and its many “hidden fashion treasures.” Clayton Kirkin, the library chief of art & information services, talks with Gunn about some pretty bad-ass antique fashion books and the two of them totally convinced us to check out the Keep Your Library Open initiative, which even has a Facebook page. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want the place that houses a book about how to tie a cravat—it’s like a tie, but for fancy folk—32 different ways to lose funding.

Kelly Rowland Is No Heidi Klum

Five reasons Kelly Rowland is no Heidi Klum

We are all going through major “Project Runway” withdrawal now that the show has been moved to Lifetime. Every episode of the thrown-together Bravo knock-off “The Fashion Show” is equivalent to a so-so episode of “Runway,” but the real nostalgia comes from the longing for “Runway”‘s host Heidi Klum. Here are the top four reasons why Kelly Rowland is no Heidi Klum.

Tim Gunn To The Rescue In New Fashion Comic Book!

Tim Gunn

Gather ‘round, people, gather ‘round…we have an announcement to make: Tim Gunn, the infamous voice of reason and fashion adviser on “Project Runway,” will become a superhero of sorts in the new comic book series, “Models Inc.” Headed by the industry giant, Marvel Entertainment, the miniseries tells the tale of a Fashion Week murder. When model Millicent Collins is accused, a team of fashion fighters swoop in to help out. This includes Gunn, who turns into an action figure when he jumps into Iron Man’s suit to fight off offenders at an exhibition.

So what does Gunn think of being consecrated in the pages of superhero history? While he’s not certain of how he will be portrayed, Gunn exclaimed, “To say I’m a character in a comic book is wild!” Whatever happens, there’s no doubt that he’ll make it work. [NY Times]

Quote Of The Day: Tim Gunn Is Alone And Loving It

Tim Gunn hasn't been on a date in 26 years.

“I haven’t been on a date in 26 years. So no, I have no relationship. I’m not even remotely looking. To have a relationship would require time. I don’t have any time, so it wouldn’t be fair to someone else. It might sound selfish, but I’m very happy being alone.”

“Project Runway” Is Finally Coming To Lifetime, But Do You Still Care About Klum & Co.?

Heidi Klum

After nearly a year of wondering when and on what channel we’d next see our beloved “Project Runway,” the companies involved have reached a settlement, and the show will make Lifetime its new home beginning with the sixth season this summer.

During the first five seasons of PR, we basically lived for the show. One time, I had it in my head that the show was going to be on at 9 p.m., not 10 p.m., and had to stay at the gym for an extra hour because I didn’t want to miss part of the episode when it finally came on (at its usual time, or course) by leaving to go home. But now that “Project Runway” is coming back, I’m not excited.

Quickies!: The Recession Hits “The Real Housewives Of New York City”

Real Housewife Alex McCord Laid Off

  • Alex McCord of “The Real Housewives of New York City” was just laid off from her visual merchandising gig at Victoria’s Secret. Now she and Simon will have to curtail their extravagant shopping sprees and off-season trips to St. Bart’s. Oh no! And what about their $200,000 brownstone renovation?! If they’re lucky, Bravo isn’t filming this. [People.com]

  • To hear Peaches Geldof retell an encounter with the Gloved One, you’d think he was an equal opportunity perv. [Perez Hilton]

  • Tim Gunn is so attracted to Anderson Cooper, who remains elusive about his sexuality, that he says he’s been trying to make a date with the CNN anchor for a year-and-a-half. We think they’d make a cute couple. [OK!]

    Save Project Runway!

    Save Project Runway!

We love “Project Runway” like Anna Wintour loves wearing black shades at night. We just can’t live without it! As fierce fans, we’re already super nervous about the network switch. Who knows what Lifetime, home of sappy made-for-TV chick flicks, will do with our straight shootin’ Tim Gunn?! They’ve already got him shaking in his stylish boots over the relocation of production to LA for Season 6. As if that wasn’t bad enough, now there’s even more cause for concern due to another move: Heidi Klum says she’ll skedaddle out of America if John McCain wins the election. Oh no! We can’t let Heidi tell America, “Auf Wiedersehen!”  [LA Times]

    Tim Gunn bobblehead

We have a major crush on Tim Gunn. Ever since the first season of “Project Runway” premiered, we have adored the man who advises contestants to “make it work,” even when their designs look like a 2nd-grade art project. Now that season five has ended, we still have “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style” to get our weekly Tim Gunn fix, but now we have him whenever we want him because Bravo is selling a Tim Gunn talking bobblehead doll. Project Runway: The Cop Out

    Project Runway Episode 12
Looks We Liked: Jerell’s Jewel Of A Dress; Leanne’s Soft Stunner

The designers had to create gowns inspired by photos taken at the New York Botanical Garden. There were a lot of tears on the runway this week, so I guess the producers decided to keep the drama flowing because the judges didn’t eliminate anyone this week. Instead, Heidi said the judges would wait until the collections were underway and would decide who goes to Bryant Park at that point. I didn’t think it was really a hard decision to make. They should have eliminated the designer that has only won one challenge on her own and who makes strikingly similar dresses each episode—Kenley!

Project Runway’s Kenley: I Take Back My Girl Crush

    Kenley From Project Runway

Red lipstick, brown hair, ‘tude-tastic, and she likes to wear feathers—on paper, Kenley from Project Runway sounds like my celeb doppleganger! It was girl crush at first episode. However, as the season has progressed, that brat has broken my heart and now she seems more like my evil twin. Kenley may make ladylike dresses but she has some seriously bad manners. She’s been so rude, I feel betrayed by my style and she’s made me reconsider my love of retro.  When Kenley laughed at poor Joe on the runway with her trained poodle protégé, it made me want to puke all over her handmade dress. You know when Tim Gunn has to sit you down for a talk, you better step off. Alas, Kenley thinks she is too cool for the way of the Gunn and just seems to be taking her self-image on a downward spiral.  Karma is an even bigger bitch than you, Kenley! Everyone with cable television has seen you in action and just like these Bratz, your day is coming, doll. [Seattle PI]

Project Runway: Don’t Mess With Tim Gunn!

    Project Runway

Was anyone else as horrified by Kenley’s behavior on last night’s episode of “Project Runway” as I was? I mean, forget her incredible rudeness when she laughed at poor Joe’s design on the runway, or the unbearable narcissism she displayed in being paired with a mini-her of a client whom she could easily mold into whatever she wanted. Kenley dared to do the absolute unthinkable. Girlfriend disrespected Tim Gunn.

Project Runway: Why Don’t We Hate Tim Gunn Yet?

Every reality show has a breakout star—Lo or Whitney on The Hills, Nicole Richie on The Simple Life, etc.—but usually that star has a fall from grace, once everyone has tired of his or her eccentricities. Just look at Christian Siriano—even we’re sick of saying “fierce” all the tme. But this is not the case with fellow Project Runway star Tim Gunn. I don’t think anyone expected Tim to become the show’s most beloved cast member, least of all Tim, but five seasons in, how is it that we still love him so freaking much?! Check out the clip from Wednesday’s episode above. We want to smack Blayne, but Tim is just adorable as always. He’s so stylish and handsome and cultured, yet he reminds me so much of my grandma when he says, “Holla atcha boy!”
