I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I have two mildly unfortunate tattoos. Annika just got a new tat, bringing her grand total to eight pieces of ink. The reasons for our ink could not be more different—I got mine when I was young and stupid and I totally regret them. If I could, I would go back in time and scream at myself, “Amelia, you are not Chinese! What’s with the characters?!” But Annika, on the other hand, is totally passionate about her body art and is very choosy and thoughtful in deciding what she wants to get inked on her body. Still, there are assumptions made by everyone—bosses, parents, and, yes, men—about women with tattoos. To find out what those assumptions are, I went to the guys on my IM.

I know, I know, how do you define “better,” right? But I think most people would agree that men and women tend to have different fighting “styles,” which really becomes a problem when we’re fighting with each other, especially in a romantic relationship. So, what do men think of the way their partners behave during a lover’s quarrel? In the time I have been interviewing the guys on my IM about everything from anal sex and condom use to masturbation and cheating, they have never been as uncomfortable with a question as they were with this one. A study out of Australia says that men cry an average of six times a year, while women cry 30-64 times or a year (or 2 hours and 14 minutes a day!). We already asked you how often you cry, but I decided to ask the fellas when was the last time they shed a tear and why. I was pretty stunned.

You know what’s nice? When you meet someone and they’re awesome and you like them and they like you and BONUS, their friends RULE. And you know what sucks? The opposite of that. When the dude you’re into has friends that are just THE WORST. Still, I’ve been known to suffer through a lot of beer guzzling with a dude’s former frat pals or a guy’s practically mute guitar-picking crew, just because I like him. But how much is a man willing to deal with when it comes to the woman he likes and that posse of gossipy bitches she calls her “best friends”? I’m lucky—I think my friends are the awesomest chicks in all of awesometown. But what if, say, my besties were made up of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Kristen Stewart, and Heidi Montag (or, for visual purposes, the Heathers)? How would a dude deal with a woman whose friendship circle included those three for company? I went to the you-know-whos to find out.

This morning we asked if you should dump a guy if he won’t give you oral sex. So far, the majority of you—nearly 50 percent—have said, “Yes. If he’s a selfish lover, he’ll be selfish in other ways too. See ya!” A little over 36 percent of you are willing to tolerate it, so long as he doesn’t expect you to go down on him, while a mere 16.5 percent believe that lack of oral sex would be a ridiculous reason to dump someone. Recently, a number of good friends of mine told me they’re getting into the friend zone with guys they’re interested in romantically. Last night, while I was writing my piece on the 7 types of sex that don’t have to count, I IM’d with a guy friend of mine, who said the one sexual experience he doesn’t always count is the one in which he, um, sucked. Which got me thinking of the bad sex I’ve had thanks to the occasional dude who couldn’t get it up and then I realized I’ve never actually asked the fellas on my IM about the worst they’ve ever been in bed. I sought to rectify that immediately.

In the latest issue of GQ, Neel Shah writes that he went on a blind date with a woman who immediately turned him off by wearing “faded True Religion jeans.” He then goes on to describe how a girl’s style plays a big part in whether or not he could date him. While Shah’s example is a little on the, uh, picky side, I don’t think he’s all that unusual. Personally, style plays a big part in my attraction to men. If a guy is wearing awesome sneakers or, you know, plaid, he becomes a little sexier in my eyes. On the flip side, frankly, black running sneakers and white socks? Major, major turnoff. On an early date with my ex, we were discussing sexual experiences (what, me discuss sex?!) and he told me that he had had a threesome. Months later I found out that he had lied. I wasn’t mad about it, but because it was such an odd thing to make up, I’ve never forgotten it. (I’ve also never figured out why. Was he trying to show off? Plant the seed for a future threesome, which he tried, in vain, to have up until we broke up?) This week I read Glamour‘s “5 Lies Men Tell About Their Sexual History (Hint: The Three-Way is BS)” and discovered that, apparently, many men tell this little fib, along with other sex lies like “I lost my virginity when I was 16!” and “This has never happened before.” So what about the guys on our IM? What sex lies have they told?

Ahh, marriage. Certainly men think long and hard about whether they want to get married right? Or maybe the answer is a no brainer, requiring very little obsession and thought and magazine purchasing? Being that it’s Wedding Week on The Frisky, and because I’d hate to leave the fellas out of such a sexy topic, I went to the guys on our IM to find out how they feel about marriage, weddings, and everything in between… Prepare to be touched!

This week I was pulling together questions from men about the things they wonder about women. One of the questions was, “How quickly do you decide if you’re going to have sex with a guy?” I thought the question was an one that could easily be turned around on men. The question is not, “How quickly do you decide you want to have sex with a woman?” but “How quickly do you decide you are going to have sex with a woman?” If what the guys on our IM have said in the past is to be believed, if you are relatively attractive, every straight guy you know probably would sleep with you. But at what moment does he decide he’s actually going to try, and, for the especially confident, how quickly does he decide he will?

Most people like to think of themselves as good in bed. Sometimes, they can be very, very wrong. It’s pretty easy to spot a guy who’s crap in the sack—he jackhammers, he doesn’t hit any of the right spots, he’s like an octopus—but what do guys find so awful they’d consider a woman a bad lay? I mean, don’t they always get off? And if so, isn’t that pretty good? I went to the boys to find out. Shockingly enough, they answered this one readily, and they all agreed on one key thing: If you aren’t into it, they aren’t either.

Sometimes I think men get a raw deal. There are so many assumptions and rumors about what guys are attracted to and what they have sexual fantasies about—often perpetuated by magazines, websites, and books that speak to them (Men’s Health, I’m talking to you!). Ultimately, I think most of these are myths. For example, do men really have a virgin fantasy? Are they actually turned on by the idea of deflowering someone? I asked my guys on IM ...

The other night, when I was having dinner with a guy friend who told me my engagement history might scare off some guys, we also discussed the issue of privacy in a relationship and how big of a deal it can be when that privacy is violated. He maintains that checking your partner’s email, cell phone call log, and text messages is totally wrong, whereas I think it’s wrong, but not pathological or evil. Frankly, I know many women who do the occasional cell phone check or email glance (and a few women who do oh-so-much more), but what about guys? Do they ever pilfer through their girlfriends’ inboxes and Facebook accounts? I went to four taken guys on IM to find out.

Yesterday I wrote about a recent trend: More and more dates end in split checks. Several of my married female friends—and their husbands—were dismayed and shocked to hear about this, and so were some of you. Some believe that whoever does the asking should do the paying, while others think the guy should always pick up the check, at least for the first few dates. Recently, I went out with three guys in a row who didn’t pick up the check on the first date, and three is a trend, not a case of bad luck. So, I went to the guys on my IM to find out what the hell is going on. Turns out, I should be dating them.

Marie Claire‘s Diana Vilibert has something crazy to admit: “Give me his name and 30 minutes, and I’ll give you his life story as told through Google, from the name of his childhood pet to a comprehensive collage of ex-girlfriends. I’m all for exhaustively Googling dates and digging up what’s out there.” And she’s not alone. Nearly every one of my female friends has Googled a potential date. Some have taken it to the extreme (background info on past GF’s maybe?), while most stick to the basics. What’s his favorite music? How funny is he? Most of what we want to find out about someone can be dug up on Facebook, but for the pesky dudes who makes their profiles private, Google offers a backup plan. Of course, you may end up finding out more than you bargained for. To be honest, I worry about potential dates Googling me. What I reveal on this site alone could scare off men. It’s STD Awareness Month! We’ve been talking a lot about the icky stuff you can get while bumping uglies, while Dr. V has urged you to have as much fun as you want, so long as you wear a condom. In the past, we’ve talked to the guys on our IM about how often they actually use condoms, but we’ve never grilled them about how often they get tested for STDs. And what I really wanted to know was how often they were actually honest when a potential sex partner asked them that question. Let’s find out…
