Heather Matarazzo, Nikki Blonsky To Star In “Manson Girls” About Charles Manson’s Ladies

Promising to be just as violent as any Bruce Willis flick, yet 1,000 times more creepy, Hollywood indie actresses are signing up for “Manson Girls,” a flick about Charles Manson and the young women in his life. Heather Matarazzo (“Welcome To The Dollhouse”), Thora Birch (“American Beauty”), and Nikki Blonsky (“Hairspray”) have all signed on to play impressionable — some would say stupid — girls drawn in by the charismatic cult leader and his group, The Family. Members of the Manson Family were known for committing crimes, most notably the gruesome murder of pregnant actress Sharon Tate, who was then married to filmmaker Roman Polanski. According to the synopsis, “Manson Girls follows a young girl from a wealthy Malibu family who fell under Manson’s spell.” No word yet on who will play Charles Manson, but I can think of half a dozen dudes with the scary facial hair and crazy eyes to pull it off. “The Pregnancy Pact” Story Was Born To Be A Lifetime Made-For-TV Movie

Lifetime Original Movies are always tabloid-y (my pops calls them “women in distress films that Mom watches”), but the upcoming flick “The Pregnancy Pact” really takes the cake. Remember a few years ago when the scandal broke that 17 teen girls at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts made a “pregnancy pact” to get knocked up and have their babies together? Remember how everyone freaked out? Then remember how the pregnant girls all agreed the media just made it up and there was no pregnancy pact?

No matter. Lifetime has made a sure-to-be-fantastic, made-for-TV movie all about it, which will air Jan. 23. Keep reading »

Were You Born To Be A Porn Star?

Were you born to be a porn star? Me neither. But that’s the premise of “Born to Be a Star.” Written and produced by Adam Sandler, the comedy focuses on a Middle American nerd, played by Nick Swardson, who discovers that his parents were porn stars. Christina Ricci plays the born-into-porn dude’s girlfriend and Stephen Dorff will put in an appearance as a legendary woodsman known as “Dick Shadow.” Of course, the story idea isn’t so out there so as not to be believed. Actress Thora Birch of “American Beauty” fame? Both her parents were porn stars. Her mother, Carol Connors, appeared in “Deep Throat,” on the set of which she met Thora’s father, Jack Birch. Also? In the September issue of Best Life, “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, who plays ad exec Don Draper on the show, reveals that before he hit it big in Hollywood, he worked as a set dresser on soft-core porn movies. “It seemed like a wonderful way to spend 12 hours a day, five days a week for $150 a day … nonunion, no benefits. … Hollywood, baby!” he recalls.
