We’ve long been a fan of quirky, sort of out-there American designer Thom Browne, so it’s pretty great to see him get pop culture recognition — on the presidential inauguration stage, no less. The outrageous sportswear designer has been a fan of putting models dressed as lobsters on the runway in the past, but is versatile enough to design clothes that the FLOTUS loves, too. A lot of times I’ll glance through the season’s runway collections and think, Isn’t anyone thinking of the marine biologists?! Like Christopher Walken’s “SNL” character demanded more cowbell, I say, “More bedazzled lobsters and embroidered whales!” And finally–finally–a designer has stepped up to the plate. You Guys Really Need To See This Insane Thom Browne Collection, Okay?
So, I was flipping through the latest collections from NY Fashion Week and I came across American designer Thom Browne’s newest looks. Browne is more well-known for his menswear line, but this collection focused primarily on women. Or birds. Or lobsters. It’s just … out of control, from boxy shoulders, to outsized proportions, to fantastical sea creatures. You must see it to believe it!
