Last week, we asked you to share your experiences with running away. Wow, some of you really provided your families (and us) with some laughs as kids and teens, but the winner of “The Runaways” and Make Up For Ever prize pack is Scrabble for this story that involved strangers, the police, and a car chase:
“When I was about 6, I decided to run away by getting on a different school bus at the end of the day and going to my friend’s house. She lived on an unpaved road, though, and a thunderstorm had washed it out so the road was closed. When the bus stopped at the end of the road, everyone’s parents were there waiting to pick them up; a few parents offered me a ride home but I refused. No way was I going back to… whatever it was that I was mad about.
About half a mile down the road I got tired and sat down on the grass embankment to eat my crackers. It started raining again and I didn’t have a raincoat. A man jogged by and stopped to ask me what I was doing, but I refused to talk to him: I was very into the “don’t talk to strangers” rule. So… he called the police.
About 15 minutes later there were two cop cars pulling up to me. I panicked and started to run. Then “chased” me down (going about 4mph) and asked me if they could call my parents. So they did, and they offered to give me a ride home. But I said no because I wasn’t allowed to take rides from strangers. They laughed their asses off, put my mom on the phone to tell me it was okay to get in the car, and when I got home everyone was joking about my big car chase.”

This Sunday is the first day of spring and, thanks to daylight savings, there are at least two more hours in your day. And what are you going to do with all that extra time? Go see a movie! Yay! This week actually offers a decent selection that should get you motivated for springtime … especially if your springtime involves running from the law (“The Bounty Hunter”), mooching off of your relatives instead of getting a job (“Greenberg”), or starting an all-girl rock band (“The Runaways”). And really, it should include all of those things. Keep reading »
Dakota Fanning appeared on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” last night. She’s totally cute. He’s kind of icky.
While chatting about her new movie “The Runaways,” Fallon said, “You were 15 when you shot this movie … there were some pretty steamy scenes in the movie, especially with Kristen even. You had some steamy scenes with her. So you’d go from the movie set back to being a 15-year-old.”
Is it just me, or did he look really uncomfortable like he felt kinda pervy for asking that? Keep reading »

I really love a biopic, even when I’m not aware of the subject’s backstory beforehand. So I’ve marked my calendar, making March 19 the day of “The Runaways.” Not only does this film tell the story of the short-lived band that made Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) rock stars, but it also has some hot-ass and glamorous ’70s fashions. We’ve already seen Kristen Stewart’s mullet haircut and Dakota Fanning’s blood-covered leg from the movie, but now the first trailer for “The Runaways,” the film about the 1970s all-girl teen rock band of the same name, is out! Will Kristen, who plays Joan Jett, prove to haters that she’s not just a sulky moper of an actress? We’ll find out in March when “The Runaways” hits theaters. [The Daily What] Keep reading »
See, you knew there had to be an explanation for the haircut. Kristen Stewart has been spending a lot of time with Joan Jett, who she’s portraying in the upcoming movie, “The Runaways.” Turns out, these two really like each other! Kristen said of the rock icon, “So many people know her as just being like one of the coolest people to ever live. That in itself is one of the most intimidating things that I’ve ever had to confront, but she’s so cool, too.” And Joan is very happy with Kristen’s portrayal of her. “She sounded great and played well. She has the passion for it, which you can’t really be taught,” she says. [Socialite Life]
It’s already a lot of pressure to portray a real larger-than-life character, without them looking over your shoulder. But here are a few other actors who met the character they played, face to face. Keep reading »
“It was passionate. We’re playing Joan Jett and Cherie Curie and they’re best friends in the film and became really close in real life. And that’s something that went down back in the ’70s.”
