Today, J. Crew showed its wares for next season, so you know Amelia was stoked. We swooned, on the other hand, for the new collection from Assembly, which has a real understated cool to it. The Row’s collection of oversized, flowy garments seemed to really reflect the Olsen twins’ personal style. And Rachel Roy’s collection showcased her girly, feminine chic. Mary-Kate and Ashley are really into backpacks. The sisterly design duo couldn’t possibly find a way to top last year’s $39,000 alligator version (at left) (which, it’s worth noting, flew off the shelves), so they settled for incorporating this $16,900 fur rucksack into The Row’s pre-fall collection. Olsen-designed luxury line The Row has released images from its Spring/Summer 2009 lookbook. Looks like Mary-Kate and Ashley went with a tribal theme to complement their collection of luxed-up basics. Is it just us, or do you find some of these photos kind of creepy? Some even seem to have religious references.
Unlike other celeb lines, The Row has maintained success and acclaim by distancing itself from the Olsen name. Yet, we have to wonder, wouldn’t it just be better if MK and Ash modeled this stuff themselves? Everyone wants their wardrobes anyhow, they’re pretty girls, and the product is good.
