Melissa Gorga’s Guide To “Love Italian Style” Includes Marital Rape

Melissa Gorga's Guide To "Love Italian Style" Includes Marital Rape

If I wanted advice on how to have a successful marriage, I would not personally turn to “Real Housewife of New Jersey” Melissa Gorga, who is married to Teresa Giudice’s brother Joe. But apparently others would, as Melissa is the author of a new relationship advice book called Love Italian Style. Jezebel got their hands on a copy and report that it’s essentially a guide to submitting to your husband’s every whim, including sexually, to keep him happy, regardless of your own needs and desires. If you’ve watched “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” you’re familiar with Joe Gorga’s sex drive, which seems to be a talking point on nearly every episode. Melissa’s book reveals how she keeps her husband sexually satisfied and advises other women to follow her lead. The jist? ”Husbands want their wives to submit; wives want our husbands to dominate.” Oh, do continue with the generalizations, Melissa! Keep reading »

Who's Brawling Now?

I’m an advocate for all installments in Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise, but the ladies of New Jersey have a special place in my heart. It was the first installment in the series that I watched regularly and I fell under its spell, transfixed by these women and their lives, fascinated by the way reality TV has become a genre of its own, entirely removed from the cinema verite of early iterations like “The Real World.”

Reality TV 2.0 presents a case study of how normal people react to a particular and sudden kind of fame. We love these women and their antics because it shines a bright light on the conundrum of modern celebrity and what it means to be “famous.” Their actions provide a mirror for the viewer to reflect. “I would never behave like that,” you’ll say as Teresa Giudice flips a table at a christening, or as Melissa Gorga indulges the adenoidal advances of her beefed up husband. Half the fun of watching is to reflect on how you’d behave in their place, and to watch the slow, careful unravelling of what was a normal life, amped up by cameras and Andy Cohen. Keep reading »

Be My Friend: “The Real Housewives Of New Jersey” Edition

The best thing about “The Real Housewives” franchise is that at the end of the day, they’re regular people. Once you cut through the manufactured drama, the extensions and the gallons of bronzer, these women are normal — they have families, pay some bills, yell at their kids, and attempt to live their lives as normally as possible in spite of the cameras. I’m willing to bet these ladies are a blast when the camera stops rolling and Andy Cohen stops asking awkward questions. In honor of the return of my favorite women from the Garden State, click through to see the reasons why these women would make great friends, and tune in to Bravo this Sunday at 8/7 C  to check out the fifth season premiere.

This post is sponsored by Bravo’s “The Real Housewives Of New Jersey,” but the author’s favorite Housewife is DEFINITELY Teresa.

Has There Been A Reconciliation Among “The Real Housewives Of New Jersey”? Perhaps, Perhaps

Not for nothing, I love these crazy screaming harpies and their intense hair and makeup routines. “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” is perhaps the most bombastic of all the “Real Housewives” franchises, not the least of which because of one Ms. Teresa Giudice, the dim little bulb that regularly flips tables and friend groups like it’s no big deal. Teresa never met a dully sly comment she didn’t like, and thank bless, because otherwise this show would be a total snoozefest.

After all the dramz of the last couple of seasons regarding Teresa and the rest of the goils, it’s a bit shocking to see her palling around with Jacqueline, Kathy and Melissa. These women could teach warfare classes at West Point (and Andy Cohen, call me if this is a series spin-off idea you’re into!). Yet, here they are, all smiles and gold lamé stretch pants at NYC’s Dylan’s Candy Bar store. On the books, it was to promote Kathy’s new “Cannoli Kit” project (they are all hawking something, aren’t they?), but we imagine it probably made good tape for Bravo, too. 7 Possible “Real Housewives Of New Jersey” Storylines For The Return Of Danielle Staub

Staub At Scores
Danielle Staub signs a contract with Scores. Read More »

Oh, happy day! Although Andy Cohen denies it, according to an anonymous source at InTouch Weekly, Danielle Staub, my favorite “Real Housewives” cast member of all time, is coming back to the show.

“Bravo has offered Danielle a contract. Danielle is contemplating whether this will be full-time or part-time … She will be filming several episodes … The producers squeezed all the juice they could from the Giudices-versus-Gorgas story line and had to think of a fresh outlet for drama. Having her back on will ruffle a lot of feathers!”

I don’t really care if it’s true or not. I’ve already gone off on a total storyline dreamscape. After the jump, my ideas for the return of the Staub, since we all know the show is more or less scripted anyway. Keep reading »
