People have been naming their babies after popular film, television, and pop culture figures for years, but some of those baby name trends are better than others. For example, when everybody started naming their kids “Bella” and “Edward” and “Wolfman McAbs” after Twilight‘s leads, many of us rolled our eyes. But this year, things are awesome: people are naming their kids after Frozen characters at a huge rate, and not just the one name you might think. Read more on The Gloss…
A new teaser for “Hunger Games: Mockingjay— Part 1″ was released today on Twitter after fans unlocked it.
In the clip titled “Return to Disctrict 12,” Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) heads home after The Games to find that her district has been completely leveled by the Capitol. The clip ends with Katniss finding a sole white rose from President Snow, indicating the “game” isn’t nearly over. Check out the teaser here to hold you over until “Mockingjay” hits theaters Nov. 21!
The full trailer for “Mockingjay: Part One” is here and it looks a lot like Mockingjay the book: really, really, really not as good as the first two book in the Hunger Games series. (Sorry, Hollywood, I know you don’t want to hear this.) In “Part One” — “Mockingjay” has been split into two films — Katniss Everdeen is living in District 13 and fighting to save Peeta, who has been taken hostage and tortured by Panem. But if you’ve seen “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire,” I suppose you’ll see this trilogy (er, quad-logy?) through to the end. Personally, it’s got too many guns and fighter jets for my taste. What do you think?
I love “The Hunger Games.” I’ll read the books, watch the movies and fangirl over the promos and trailers for “Mockingjay: Part 1″ until my obsession reaches a borderline unhealthy level, but if there’s one thing I’m not so enthusiastic about, it’s feeling like I’m in “The Hunger Games.” NOPE.
But soon we may all see firsthand what it’s like to head to the Capitol, because rumor has it that Lionsgate, the studio that brought the popular book series to theaters, is in talks to create theme parks based on the world. Why? Because everyone wants to feel like they’re being forced by a totalitarian government to fight to the death, obvi. Sounds like family fun to me! Keep reading »
The first teaser for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1″ debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, further whetting fans’ appetites for the movie’s premiere later this year. Only a minute long and featuring only four words from Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, the teaser focuses primarily on Plutarch Heavensbee (the late Philip Seymour Hoffman) and President Coin (Julianne Moore), the leader of District 13, discussing whether Katniss is ready to lead a revolution against the Capitol. Watch above!
Even if you’re not a fan of the “Hunger Games” books/movies, you’ve gotta admit the movies’ promotional work is tight. There’s a whole real-but-fake online magazine devoted to the Games — and the lifestyle maintained by those living in the Capitol — called Capitol Couture, and it’s actually, like, interesting. Capitol Couture also recently unveiled some promotional posters for the Games, featuring the unsung heroes of the different districts in Panem, all to get you hyped for the release of “Mockingjay.” Click through check them all out!
