The Full “Mockingjay: Part One” Trailer Is Here

In Theaters November 21

The full trailer for “Mockingjay: Part One” is here and it looks a lot like Mockingjay the book: really, really, really not as good as the first two book in the Hunger Games series. (Sorry, Hollywood, I know you don’t want to hear this.) In “Part One” — “Mockingjay” has been split into two films — Katniss Everdeen is living in District 13 and fighting to save Peeta, who has been taken hostage and tortured by Panem. But if you’ve seen “The Hunger Games” and “Catching Fire,” I suppose you’ll see this trilogy (er, quad-logy?) through to the end. Personally, it’s got too many guns and fighter jets for my taste. What do you think?

Would You Go To A “Hunger Games” Theme Park?

I love “The Hunger Games.” I’ll read the books, watch the movies and fangirl over the promos and trailers for “Mockingjay: Part 1″ until my obsession reaches a borderline unhealthy level, but if there’s one thing I’m not so enthusiastic about, it’s feeling like I’m in “The Hunger Games.” NOPE.

But soon we may all see firsthand what it’s like to head to the Capitol, because rumor has it that Lionsgate, the studio that brought the popular book series to theaters, is in talks to create theme parks based on the world. Why? Because everyone wants to feel like they’re being forced by a totalitarian government to fight to the death, obvi. Sounds like family fun to me! Keep reading »

First Look: "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" Gets A Teaser Trailer
Is Katniss Ready To Take On The Capitol?

The first teaser for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1″ debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, further whetting fans’ appetites for the movie’s premiere later this year. Only a minute long and featuring only four words from Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen, the teaser focuses primarily on Plutarch Heavensbee (the late Philip Seymour Hoffman) and President Coin (Julianne Moore), the leader of District 13, discussing whether Katniss is ready to lead a revolution against the Capitol. These “Mockingjay” Promos Are So Rad

Even if you’re not a fan of the “Hunger Games” books/movies, you’ve gotta admit the movies’ promotional work is tight. There’s a whole real-but-fake online magazine devoted to the Games — and the lifestyle maintained by those living in the Capitol — called Capitol Couture, and it’s actually, like, interesting. Capitol Couture also recently unveiled some promotional posters for the Games, featuring the unsung heroes of the different districts in Panem, all to get you hyped for the release of “Mockingjay.” Click through check them all out!

Patti Smith Is A Huge "Hunger Games" Fan, Wrote A Song For "Catching Fire" Soundtrack & Rocks A Mockingjay Pin

The Hunger Games book series and movies are hugely popular with a wide audience, but I was still surprised (and delighted!) to learn the legendary rock star and poet Patti Smith counts herself amongst its fans. In fact, Smith enjoys the series so much, she:

  1. Wears a mockingjay pin on her lapel and carries a mockingjay iPhone case.
  2. Has been known to hold her fingers up in the District 12 salute, which she says is “beautiful” and “brings tears” to her eyes, at concerts.
  3. She wrote a song for the “Catching Fire” soundtrack called “Capital Letter,” which, she explains, “[Is] like a letter to the Capitol, warning them about Katniss, but warning them in a proud way.” It includes the lyrics, “Rebellion has a heart / Breaking like the dawn / Bursting into song” and “She’s the silent one / In her silent boots / Racing through the flames.”

One question remains: Team Peeta or Team Gale? [Vanity Fair]
