Five-year-old Brennan Decker thought she was being sneaky when she let her pet cow into the house, but when her mom catches her, she provides a laundry list of nonsensical excuses that only a kid could come up with. After talking in circles, she calls it quits around 3:30 and settles in for the cutest cuddle between child and cow you’ve ever seen. [Daily Dot]
Animal abuse? The best day of this tiny hamster’s life? Hard to say! Either way, someone had the wherewithal to make a pile of itty-bitty, hamster-sized hot dogs and feed them to one lucky rodent, racing against the clock with Takeru Kobayashi, competitive eater and Guiness world record holder for the most hot dog noshed. On July 4th, 2014, Kobayashi set a new record by eating 113 bunless hot dogs in 10 minutes — but how does he hold up against this little guy? [YouTube]
No, “chubby prairie dog gets stuck in a hole” is not a naughty euphemism (but it could be). This is simply a video of a fat prairie dog who vastly overestimated his ability to exit a hole in the ground. Lucky for him, some good Samaritans drove by to pull his ass outta that hole. Clearly he is flipping the fuck out because he thinks he’s about to become somebody’s lunch. Instead they filmed the entire thing and posted it on YouTube, much to his eternal prairie dog humiliation. Close up of the rescue begins at 1:19!
These little pandas turned one-month old this week! The newborn bears live in a Chinese zoo, where they are believed to be the world’s only set of panda triplets. Sure, they aren’t much to look at yet and anyway, upon their birth, zookeepers told the New York Post not to get excited until they pass their six-month birthday. But I believe these guys will survive. (The species depends on it!) In just a few months they’ll be fuzzy little puffballs and YouTube will have a fresh new crop of baby panda vids. Happy one month birthdays, little guys! [YouTube; New York Post]
After Ruuxa the cheetah cub was rejected by his mother, zookeepers at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park paired him up with Raina, a Rhodesian ridgeback puppy. Their friendship was set up as part of the zoo’s animal ambassador program, which creates unlikely bonds between different critters. And it worked: the new buds are now over three months old and exploring new parts of the park together. They’re being raised alongside each other to create a special bond, with Raina helping Ruuxa feel relaxed in stressful settings. Some of their play fighting is training for Ruuxa to become part of the park’s Cheetah Run experience — and it’s pretty darn cute. [NBC]
I know the internet is the land of hyperbole, especially when it comes to cats. But for real, everyone, anointing this kitten getting a belly rub as “The Cutest Ever Cat Video On The Internet” seems pretty spot-on to me. I dare you to disagree with me. [Love Meow]
