But then things came back to Jake’s mom in an awkward way.   • Leave it to Kristen Schaal at “The Daily Show” to give the best assessment of Republicans’ attempts to redefine rape in the No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act. “Rape with benefits” and “rape-ish” are sooo becoming part of my vocabulary.   • Former Oklahoma State Senator Herb Rozell suggested a pregnant woman who was nominated to the State Board of Education would be “worthless” because she would give birth during the legislative session and be totally obsessed with diapers or something. Rozell has been condemned by OK’s Governor Mary Fallin and other lawmakers, including two who said, “In this day and age, to have that type of attitude about a woman’s ability to serve is offensive, discriminatory and just wrong.” [Tulsa Beacon]

Whether you come down on the Republican or Democrat side, it’s hard not to watch this clip from “The Daily Show” and not be angry. As many of you know, a Republican filibuster prevented a bill allotting funds to September 11th first responders to come up to a vote in the Senate. As John Devlin, one of the first responders says, “We’re patriots to this country. We went down there for the love of this country … . We didn’t turn our back on anybody … . The Rally To Restore Sanity, Auto-Tuned

This weekend, I hightailed it to Washington, D.C., for “The Daily Show“‘s and “The Colbert Report”‘s Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear. It was basically a big old party with amazing sign watching. (My personal faves read: “I Had a Tea Party with Your Mama” and “Palin/Snooki 2012.” The crowd was—how do I put it?—packed like sardines, so there was no chance of seeing a Jumbotron unless you were at least six feet tall. The best the rest of us could do was listen. And for the listeners, the highlight of the afternoon was for sure Jon Stewart‘s monologue. So we’re glad that Auto-Tune The News didn’t waste any time in remixing that shizzle.
